Lovely stay! Such a lovely room and the bathroom was the cleanest I've ever seen in a hotel! The location is perfect and we had both the breakfast and dinner and the food was stunning! The best was so comfortable and quiet even though it's right in the action. An added bonus was that there is plenty of storage with large window sills in both the bedroom and the bathroom. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be staying again.

Tge staff were very attentive. The room - Jacobean - was quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean with a large bathroom. The bedding was lovely and we enjoyed the tea, coffee and treats provided in the room. The breakfast was outstanding, everything you could want was included. Great location with good parking and right in the middle of town.

Staff was wonderful! Five stars and more! Took extra time to give us an historical tour, showing us Oliver Cromwell's alleged musket holes on the ancient front door and other oddities and delights. Drove our rental car to our room so we wouldn't have to search for it. Made us feel relaxed, welcome, and comfortable. Enjoyed the meals, the pool, and the lovely common areas. My 8 year old daughter and I loved playing chess and drinking tea and hot chocolate while eating dessert in the beautiful lounge, with Katherine Parr's portrait peering down at us. We traveled for a month in the UK and France, and this was our favorite hotel. So much to see and do: swimming, hiking, lounging. My daughter was obsessed with the full-size chess board outside, although we didn't have time to play that set. Compared to where we live in N CA, this place was also a remarkable value! We paid $350 which included the breakfast (there's a wonderful buffet in addition to the hot breakfast), and a 110 pound dinner allowance. You couldn't stay in a Courtyard for that where we live.

Perfect for relaxing and kicking back for a few days. Quiet afternoons in the lounge area or a drink and meal in the bar/restaurant, the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Staff were very welcoming and polite. Food in the Hook Restauarant was excellent as was the breakfast. Having stayed at dog friendly hotels in the past, the experience at The Fish takes it to a whole different level, our little dog also had a Pawsome stay.

We loved our top-quality twin room with large comfortable beds and a luxurious bathroom. Breakfast was second to none and you got the experience of what it is like to be 'to the manor born'. The staff were helpful and friendly, the hotel room was cozy (as was the bed!), the common areas were inviting (some lounges had wood-burning fireplaces!), and the pool, hot tub and steam room were very relaxing. Nice little town with great pubs and close by to local attractions. We stayed here so that we could visit the farmers dog and we were only 25 minutes away. We also visited a few of the other little towns and villages. Great location. We ate at Bitter & twisted one evening in chipping Norton. Staff were friendly and the food was lovely. Great value for money also. We would definitely return.

Very busy, but well worth the effort. So much to see and do not only in Bourton but also the surrounding countryside. There are ample venues for food and drink, shopping is on another level. Model village, car museum, bird park are must dos. Upper and Lower Slaughter are just unmissable places to visit (get there before 10:30 am as parking is scarce. Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.
