The facilities were world standard I understand this is one of six hotels/ spas in the Lakes owned by one family . Well they know how to deliver a customer focused , high quality service and they make you feel that you are important and valued The staff were clearly happy .. that lets us a lot about the culture here. I would recommend this place Food and restaurants were superb The rooms were quiet , full of all facilities , comfortable and luxury Thankyou for such a wonderful stay Zac and Zoe were wonderful staff . All the others worked hard to make our stay specialGuest review byColinUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 541 reviewsFood quality was great. Bit more variety on the evening meals would help for those staying longer than 4 days but that is being picky. Fantastic breakfast - if there is something you want but cannot find on the buffet then ask the chefs - all very helpful. The spa was amazing and great for a rainy day. Location is perfect for walks and local communities. Room was cozy and comfortable. For 6 days we could have done with booking a bigger room - it is worth checking the options for longer stays - but the bed was super comfy and we wish we'd bought the robes.Guest review byArronUnited Arab Emirates
- From $244.73 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 2,317 reviewsThe hotel was perfect for our one night stay. The weather was horrible so we spent some time in the very comfortable relaxing hotel lounge. Although it rained constantly we ventured out to Allan Bank, a short 6 minutes walk and also a walk along the path towards Easdale tarn. The food in the restaurant was superb. The bedroom had everything we needed for one night and the bed was very comfortable.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom

A lovely place to visit.
A lovely place to visit. Lots of good local shops, cafes and restaurants that were nearby. Buses 599 open top available to get to other places and train station with good connections if you don't want to drive. We enjoyed visiting Ambleside, Bowness, Coniston and Grasmere. We took a boat out on Windermere from Low Woods, the car ferry to Hawkeshead and the boat trip on Lake Coniston. A walk down to the lake directly from Windermere via Birthwaite Road leads you to two small jetties where people were swimming, paddle boarding and people watching. In Windermere, Home Ground Cafe is a great place for breakfast but be prepared to queue. Tillys bar did a good fish and chips. Cafe Italia for pizza etc.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Bowness is good place to take a short break.
Bowness is good place to take a short break. The ferry trip to Lakeside and the short train ride was most enjoyable and very good value. The first two days were warm and sunny, but inevitably it poured down on the last day. Bowness was busy and eating out is expensive. Cafe '4' provides the best and least expensive meals in Bowness.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Pedestrian Plaza under construction - when finished will be an asset. Variety of shops, some in covered markets - weather protection for travellers. Visited Cathedral and Cafe - both worthwhile . Overnight stay on route to Penrith for Family History research - Library staff very helpful.Guest review byDaphneAustralia - 10.0

Have been to Keswick many times in the past (usually staying outside of Keswick itself). This was the first trip staying in the town centre. Lovely buzzing atmosphere in the summer, lots of tourists in the main streets but where we stayed was quiet and only 15 minutes walk into the town itself. Plenty of pubs and places to eat. I actually love looking in all the shops - loads of outdoor retailers selling everything for walkers, hikers etc. Spent a fair bit of money in the shops! Well worth it. We were also lucky to visit the theatre and see a magnificent production of Pride and Prejudice. Honestly? it was the best theatre production I have ever seen - amazing! I am sure other productions showing in the future will be well worth it.Guest review byVivienUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I know Penrith well, I used to live and work here and its always a pleasure to return. It's a great little town with lots of great places to stay and eat, additionally the Lakes are on the doorstep and the locals are sooooo friendly. Additionally, not being in the National Park makes things a tad cheaper.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Kendal is a great base for lake district trip. While ambelside would be more central, Kendal is more affordable. There are also a number of places to view in kendal like castle, abott museum, levens hall etc.Guest review byNitinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Grasmere is like nowhere else - it’s absolutely stunning and has a tranquil feel to it that just makes you feel so relaxed and content when you’re there. Plenty of walks, scenery, cafes, restaurants, a decent pub and lots of beautiful hotels to choose from. The gingerbread shop is gorgeous! There’s so much to see here. I can’t imagine anyone not liking Grasmere! Simply beautiful.Guest review byRachelUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Has a nice period 'feel'.
Has a nice period 'feel'. Lots of one-off shops and very few national chain stores. Quite hilly, which could be challenging in slippery conditions. The promenade provides an excellent, uncluttered walk along the marshy coastline, particularly in good weather. Lots of great, family-run restaurants and 'eating pubs'. Provides a civilised alternative to the popular holiday resorts.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom
