- From $264.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 2,311 reviewsEverything really!! The hotel staff are lovely and welcoming. The place is stunning and views are breathtaking, especially if you get a room with a lake / Hill view. Spotless hotel, room was very big. Food was delicious, nothing was too much for any member of staff to help you with. My family has spa treatments and said they were fabulous, the pool area was gorgeous to lounge around. The outside area to relax was beautiful. Luckily we had amazing weather. We did the whisky tour at the lakes distillery which was so good, beware a taxi ride cost 80 pounds one way! We will Def stay here again when in the UK it was amazing, and a bonus it's dog friendly so I got my dog fix as we live overseas and we're missing ours!!Guest review byLisaBermuda

- From $237.95 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 5,541 reviews10 out of 10. The whole experience was fantastic especially since it was our Honeymoon we couldn't have asked for a better stay. I mentioned when booking for a jug of dairy free milk, which we received in the room but also in a fridge which from my understanding not all rooms come with, again this was going above the call of duty. The room was amazing and cleaned to perfection. We ordered room service which again was second to none and when we dined at the on site restaurant again absolutely fantastic. We've already suggested that we will be coming back next year for our first anniversary.Guest review byLukeUnited Kingdom

A lovely place to visit.
A lovely place to visit. Lots of good local shops, cafes and restaurants that were nearby. Buses 599 open top available to get to other places and train station with good connections if you don't want to drive. We enjoyed visiting Ambleside, Bowness, Coniston and Grasmere. We took a boat out on Windermere from Low Woods, the car ferry to Hawkeshead and the boat trip on Lake Coniston. A walk down to the lake directly from Windermere via Birthwaite Road leads you to two small jetties where people were swimming, paddle boarding and people watching. In Windermere, Home Ground Cafe is a great place for breakfast but be prepared to queue. Tillys bar did a good fish and chips. Cafe Italia for pizza etc.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Bowness is good place to take a short break.
Bowness is good place to take a short break. The ferry trip to Lakeside and the short train ride was most enjoyable and very good value. The first two days were warm and sunny, but inevitably it poured down on the last day. Bowness was busy and eating out is expensive. Cafe '4' provides the best and least expensive meals in Bowness.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Pedestrian Plaza under construction - when finished will be an asset. Variety of shops, some in covered markets - weather protection for travellers. Visited Cathedral and Cafe - both worthwhile . I know Penrith well, I used to live and work here and its always a pleasure to return. It's a great little town with lots of great places to stay and eat, additionally the Lakes are on the doorstep and the locals are sooooo friendly. Additionally, not being in the National Park makes things a tad cheaper.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Kendal is a great base for lake district trip. While ambelside would be more central, Kendal is more affordable. There are also a number of places to view in kendal like castle, abott museum, levens hall etc.Guest review byNitinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Description of room when booking was not reflective of the reality, garden view turned out to be a brick wall. Customer service was poor. Given false information re restaurant (told closed when still open for another hour). Deputy manager promised to get back to us with answers to our complaints, never did. Told manager would contact us, also to discuss complaints, and she hasn’t. Only after several attempts to contact the manager did we get told by receptionist to contact booking.com (not easy). Unsatisfactory experience all round meaning we would never stay again or even recommend to anyone elseGuest review byAnonymous
