Room was plenty big enough, comfortable and a really wonderful experience. All of the little extras; nespresso machine, bath products, chocs and a little message made the stay very special. Having a freestanding bath in the bedroom was a real treat too!

Wow, what an amazing place. The room was luxurious and comfortable and charmingly decorated. The entire hotel was lovely. We wanted to stay longer! The staff was great. I had a problem with the wifi and the front desk talked me through it and I quickly realized that it was my phone that was the problem. Their wifi was perfect! Parking was plentiful. The grounds were beautiful. We really enjoyed eating breakfast in the back garden area. The breakfast was Michelin-star chef quality! It was so tasty. Highly-recommended!

One of our favorite places we’ve stayed at! Not a grand or particularly luxurious hotel but full of character made even better by the wonderful staff. They went out of their way to make everyones stay a really good one. Food was very good too The hotel is in an ideal position for the Monsal trail with lots of other walks right on your doorstep. The views are spectacular!

Magnificent building. We had one of the cheaper rooms on the third floor and it was great. Recently renovated, very comfort and beautifully warm. The en-suite had a huge bath (and shower) with endless hot water. The building is just beautiful with lots of space to relax in the lounges. It is located right in town so you park your car and walk everywhere. Great value

We were in Derby to spend time with our grandchildren and there was so much to do there with them. We had family day passes on the busses and they loved the double Deckers and going to the various playgrounds and fun parks. Every day we found a different place to have lunch and there are so many to choose from.

Gateway to the peak district and all that, yes, but Chesterfield has a lot to offer in its own right. Ive been before, I was here for work this time but I had time to root around. Come on a thursday when the flea market is on and make a long weekend of it. Look out for the fantastic Record Fairs, and two of the best independent record shops you could hope for. There are some great old pubs and The Spreadeagle is an excellent place to stay and eat. Do your homework, but turn up on spec and explore. You'll enjoy it. And there's Chatsworth up the road if that floats your boat.

We had an amazing three night stay - the weather was 30degC and more every single day. The staff at the hotel were absolutely spot on - really helpful, very friendly and happy to chat. The pool is amazing and it was great to see how popular it is. Great walking routes from the hotel as well and a good bus service - we dined in Matlock one night. Quite handy for Donington Park too. We went to wee the world superbikes on the Sunday. A perfect weekend.

The Castle is in the centre of Bakewell so very convenient for exploring locally. Chatsworth House is only a few miles away and a great day out. There are lots of wonderful walks, easy and more challenging ones, all with excellent views. We loved it and will go back to do all the walks it offers! I was surprised not to see more flowers on the front windows which makes these small towns so enchanting, but we had such a dry summer that it could be the reason for it. Otherwise it is a place we will return many more times.
