The dinner, high tea, and breakfast areas were spacious and delightfully decorated with an eye to easy comfort and respectability. The surrounding moors and tor were fun for a walkabout. There was a proper snow while i was there and hay tor hill was covered with sledders, dogs and hikers. I spotted a herd of wild horses hanging around the trail to hay tor munching on the snow covered bushes. After my day on the moors, there was a handy entrance through the hotel boot room, with bench and towels to shake off the snow. My room had a hot towel rack that dried my clothes and gloves by morning. The dinners and breakfast were prepared by skilled chefs and were good looking and delicious. I highly recommend the moorland hotel for a relaxing stay on the moors.

A beautiful hotel, well-situated for a seaside holiday, with ocean views, the town and beach an easy walk (and a number of exceptional hikes available leaving from the front door), and a delicious breakfast spread every morning as well as cooked-to-order dishes all included in what we felt was a very reasonable price. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. We obviously enjoyed our 6-day stay very much. Thank you

llfracombe is amazing for the picturesque walks and views, and watching the sunset. They can be quite hilly, but there are plenty of benches to rest on. Our favourite place to eat is the Admiral Collingwood Wetherspoons Pub, prices are good and it is ideally situated. Also the ice cream parlours are lovely. There is crazy golf, and a nice nature reserve to visit with a small waterfall we found.

The historic town centre, Bayards Cove, South Town and...

The historic town centre, Bayards Cove, South Town and Warfleet Creek are outstanding. Great character and charm, stunning harbour views, well-run boat trips on the River Dart and a fantastic range of shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It's a very well-heeled town with genuine star quality. But... the parking is a total nightmare if you arrive on a Friday. Its a historic town not designed around cars and you won't be able to just turn up in the town centre and find a spot. The park and ride around two miles from the town centre is a welcome facility, however the council's policy of creating a mobile app only payment system at the car park and no card payments means fiddling around with a very fickle and unreliable app which won't verify your registration details if the mobile signal is weak as it was for me, doesn't detail the chargeable period in the car park clearly leading to widespread confusion among a long queue of frustrated travellers when I arrived there. To add to the appalling cock-up of a system, there were people in a queue for the bus who had been waiting for nearly an hour! On a Friday afternoon. Its just pathetically inefficient and in a county which relies on tourism for a large chunk of its income. The Council in Devon have no respect for visitors in adopting this inefficient and discriminatory fiasco as there were older people trying to park in all of the towns I visited who weren't familiar with apps. The council are letting down Dartmouth and the whole county along with the businesses there. This parking frustration really put me off visiting Devon again. It used to be so simple to visit the county and park and pay. Shame on you all!

Lovely little town with boutique and independent shops with nice places to eat. Surrounding countryside was lovely, even in November when we went, but threatened by lots of new housing development only served by country lanes. Car very important to see the sights out of town. Everyone very friendly including at the Mill in Uffcombe which is well worth a visit.

This was our first trip back to Salcombe after many years...

This was our first trip back to Salcombe after many years and not much has changed, it has kept its charm and is still, as I see, not over commercialised. It has a good selection of shops, restaurants and coffee houses. Many of the boat yard areas have been developed, but tastefully, modern and in keeping, bushelled in with some of the original trades and and buildings. The Salcombe Gin Distillery has a modern building with a bar over looking the river and creek where they will serve you your gin of choice, whilst relaxing in the comfortable surroundings or on a stall on the balcony watching the tide rise and fall. They also offer Gin School, where you design, make bottle and drink your own gin, an experience we worth doing on your trip to Salcombe, but it would be wise to pre-book this. I have to say that I didn't find anything negative about our visit, and would highly recommend a stay here
