You can never have too long in Llanberis area!
You can never have too long in Llanberis area! The mountains & lakes are stunning, and there is so much else to explore too. Snowdonia has a magical quality to it that makes it so special. Llanberis is also a great base from which to explore outlying places e.g. during my trip, as well as completing my main goals of climbing Snowdon and Tryfan, I took daytrips from Llanberis to Caernarfon and Anglesey on one day and Llandudno & Conwy on the other, visiting castles, National Trust properties and beaches on teh way. The various driving routes to and from these places back to Llanberis were a joy in themselves. The nearby Pen-y-Gwryd hotel is so interesting, steeped in mountaineering / Everest history - although it was lovely to have the place almost to myself to look around, it is a shame it is not promoted a bit more as a place to visit for a cup of tea / place to stay.Guest review bySerenaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great base to explore other interesting places and especially by train. Barmouth has enough entrainment for all ages and the beach is amazing and so clean. The 13th century pub oldest in Barmouth really nice has a cave with a pool with fish in. Has cask beer and food excellentGuest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom - 6.0

A small, compact city that's a little run-down and in need of some government cash to bring more people in. We've never been in such a quiet city centre on a Saturday night; plenty of pubs, not enough people! So many Turkish barbers, so few decent restaurants...and no hotels! Plenty of take-out eateries, but that's not what tourists need! Lovely setting, Welsh government: you're missing out on tourism in Bangor, so splash the cash and glam it up...decent restaurants, a couple of hotels and a modern bar or two. The city should be very grateful for the Black Bull, JD Wetherspoon's, the only busy pub in town!Guest review byAnnetteUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There is a community annual newspaper available listing and describing a variety of hikes. I personally took the Precipice trail, a two hour easy to moderate trail, only about 4 km from town, with it's own courtesy carpark and toilets. Minimum elevation change with scenic views. Would highly recommend the Stag Inn and Royal Ship hotel for food and drink. The Torrent Walk hotel was also a favorite.Guest review byCraig - 6.0

If you are looking for an amazing beach with great dunes for long walks Aberdyfi is great. Other than that it is a very quiet seaside town with a few shops and places to eat. There is a train station that can take you along the coast, also a golf club and a bowling clubGuest review byAmandaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We stayed in the absolutely wonderful Gwesty Seren Hotel and did the 70 mph Titan Zip line, fantastic. Take a bee-line for the grapes hotel bar and restaurant to eat out, amazing. Photo is one of the amazing views from the Gwesty Seren HotelGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake.
Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake. It seems to consist mainly of one high Street with various shops, pubs and eateries. The lake is beautiful. We hired a double kayak which cost 40.00ph and the whole hiring process was super easy. We also did the steam train ride along the lake which was lovely. There's lots more to explore so I'd definitely go back for a couple of days and explore the area some more.Guest review bysueUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A lovely location to use as a base to just relax or to explore the wider area. Local amenities are very good, everything you would need. The beaches are very clean with a separate dog friendly area. Plenty of different options for eating out during the day and evening. Ice cream parlour is a must!Guest review byCyUnited Kingdom
