Joe and Hannah's yurt was located by the main intersection in the center of Gigha, behind their shop and The Nook (Joe himself is also a talented chef!). I stayed four nights and it was the perfect homebase for me to explore the island on bike. The yurt was well-equipped with comfy beds, cookware and utensils, power outlet, high-speed internet (fast enough for Zoom calls), and a wood-burning fireplace. I also had access to my own mini fridge and freezer in the adjacent shed as well as a clean bathroom a few steps away in the main house. I enjoyed waking up the birdsong in the mornings and making a toasty fire in the evenings. I can’t wait to be back!

A great wee island for eatiing out - the Gigha Boathouse (those scallops!), The Nook (that prawn bap!), the stunning wee cake honesty box (that lemon drizzle!); and a really welcoming community. There seems to be a preference for holidaymakers not to bring cars, but actually I am glad that I did, because it gave me the flexibility to get up to the North of the island, which I think would have been too far to walk. It's a great island for walking generally though - fantastic paths network and signage.

This was our first time on GIGHA and we’ll definitely be back. It is so peaceful and unspoiled. We cycled, swam and kayaked. The beaches we went to were beautiful and uncrowded. Next time we have more to explore on foot. It’s a great location for a quiet, relaxing break.
