Commanding far-reaching views over the English Channel, the Wight Mouse Inn is peacefully located amid grassy downs just 15 minutes’ drive from Ventnor. Great pub in a great location. Staff were attentive, friendly and generally excellent on a testing covid environment. The one way system worked brilliantly abs the landlord was a great personality and took time to have a chat with his guests. Food was excellent. Best breakfast had for a long time. If you’re in this part of the world, definitely pay it a visit.

The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. They chatted away to my 7yo about what adventures she had had that day. The place was lovely and clean, and all social distance measures were in place and adhered to. The food was lovely. The room was very clean and comfortable. Will be staying there again!

Newport er den beste byen å bo i på Isle of wight. Passe stor, og med gode shoppingmuligheter :) Trivelige folk og noen trivelige puber. Fint sted, husk at alt er stengt på søndag unntatt spisesteder. Anbefaler bussturer rundt på øye. Newport er knutepunkt for alle busser, og det er lett å bytte til andre busser der. Stedet anbefales.

Shanklin var et godt utgangspunkt for å reise rundt øya. Vi brukte buss og det var et godt valg. Bussene går hele tiden og man ser mye bedre enn å kjøre egen bil. Isle of Wight er en fantastisk øy med bare hyggelige mennesker.

Vi var der bare et par dager, og ankom senere på dagen enn planlagt, og oppdaget derfor litt for seint at det var en gammel bydel å utforske. Likte Shanklin veldig godt, og bor gjerne der igjen ved en senere anledning. Isle of Wight var en spennede og flott øy, og reiser gjerne tilbake dit igjen, med bedre tid, men da ville jeg nok hatt bil for å utforske øya mye mer. Anbefaler å besøke Money Haven; monkey sanctuary. Veldig kjekk og veldreven park der dyrene hadde det godt og bød på god underholdning:-) Passer til alle aldre; ihvertfall de som er glad i dyr!

Ryde er en hyggelig liten by med direkte transport til Portsmouth via katamaran eller hovercraft. Det er god bussforbindelse til andre steder av Isle of Wight, så man kan lett reise omkring på øya. Fine fotturstier i området. Det er mange restauranter, men jeg prøvde bare en, og det var Long John Eater. Enkelt og rett og slett billig sted med god mat. Flott område med den lange stranda og vekslingen med tidevannet. Flott solnedgang. Jeg var bare tre netter, og reiste litt rundt omkring så jeg kan ikke si mye mer spesifikt om Ryde. Men ta for all del turen til the Needles og ta båt ut og se. Det går også an å gå dit på flotte stier fra Yarmouth (buss fra Ryde), og til Shanklin / Sandown (buss fra Ryde)og gå turer derfra langs strand og klipper - gjerne helt tilbake til Ryde, Flotte turer. Jeg tok også damptoget fra Smallbrook Junction til Wootton. Togforbindelse fra Ryde Esplanade og bytte til damptoget i Smallbrook Junction. Hyggelig og pen tur.

We had a wonderful stay at the George, a beautiful old style hotel. Every staff member we encountered was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were given some great tips of things to see and do. We enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast, in the beautifully decorated dining room, overlooking the garden terrace and water. The best part was our comfy bed. Great night’s sleep. Highly recommend a stay here.

Absolutely loved my long weekend here with my partner. Very clean facilities overall (COVID safe measures in place). We had dinner at the brasserie the first night, had a nice breakfast the next morning with a view of the lake, and enjoyed the hot tub, pool, and steam facilities after a long day of hiking and site seeing. I even had a cheeky full body massage before checkout. Feel very relaxed and the staff were absolutely incredible. Thank you and we will be back.

The hotel is very comfortable with attentive and friendly staff. The room had a great view over the gardens and looking towards the sea. The Royal is situated close to the centre of Ventnor with an easy walk to the beach.

The location is perfectly down on the beachfront, right by the pier and the car park is just a couple minutes walk away. The bar and restaurant area were really well kept, with a one-way system in place which worked. Room was lovely, just a bed, fan, kettle and telly but all we needed.

This isn't how one normally starts a review, but the only thing I liked was the integrity of the owner. Let me explain.... We booked 2 nights at the Shanklin Beach Hotel, but upon arrival, found they were fully booked. (I later read in the fine print, that if such a situation were to occur, they would provide alternate accommodation equal to, or better than what we had booked at the Shanklin Beach Hotel). The owner had already done exactly that before we even arrived, by arranging accommodation for us at the Esplanade Hotel, just 2 or 3 doors down the road. He walked us down and introduced us to Kevin, the owner of the Esplanade Hotel, who took us up to a beautiful, large Victorian styled room, with huge doors that opened up to a balcony overlooking the beach below. So although we can give Kevin and his Esplanade Hotel 5 stars all day long, we can't really say much about the Shanklin Beach Hotel itself as we never really got to stay there, but if the Shanklin Beach Hotels owners commitment to his customers is any indication, it's probably not a bad place to stay.
