FAQs about hotels in Jersey

Beaches Worthy of the Mediterranean

In the English Channel, just off the Normandy coast, Jersey has wonderful beaches that wouldn’t look out of place in the Mediterranean. The largest Channel Island, it is a UK dependency, but has a distinctly Gallic feel and a dialect closer to French than English.

Home to the largest concentration of Jersey hotels, St Helier - the capital - is centred on a harbour protected by 16th-century Elizabeth Castle, an offshore fort beautifully lit at night. Gorey also has fantastic Mont Orgueil castle, which dominates the multi-coloured façades and fishing boats below.

Trinity in the north has one of the Jersey hotels on the beach and a wildlife park. Speaking of animals, in fields nearby and all over the island are fine examples of the brown Jersey cow that originated here.

Grève de Lecq has a beautiful curved beach, while the longest beach runs along the west coast from the St Ouen to St Brelade regions. In between is St Peter, site of Jersey Airport, while the war tunnels in neighbouring St Lawrence are now a museum and one of the most popular Jersey attractions.

Whichever choice you make from the range of apartments, guest houses and hotels in Jersey on Booking.com, it’s comforting to know that you are staying on a Fairtrade Island.

A beautiful place to visit. Plenty to see & do.

A beautiful place to visit. Plenty to see & do. Christmas markets a little disappointing not much variety & on the small side. Local pubs & restaurants fabulous. Definitely value for money. Our main mode of transport around St helier was our feet (walking) local people where so helpful with directions & recommendations of places to visit. Being 2 women we felt utterly safe strolling round the island day & night. Overall I would highly recommend to anyone that jersey is a place that has to be seen & we will definitely be back in the summer with our families

Lots of different eateries .

Lots of different eateries . We enjoyed food at The Salty Dog and also from The old Court House. Both restaurants were good value. There is another place The Boathouse and Anchor which is on the harbour. If you want a loud bustling atmosphere stay downstairs, For a pure dining experience go upstairs. The harbour itself is full of boats and quite pretty. Walking is for the most part on the flat. The boardwalk along the beach is pretty but watch out for bikes.

We had the castle behind us and the harbour in front of us which we were able to see from our room. The castle was worth a visit and the harbour and sea coming in and out was pleasant to view with a glass in your hand. Easy access to all over the island,we like history so were able to see the war tunnels and museum. I think we were staying in the right place, away from the hustle and bustle of the capital and other busy places.

The area of St Clements is lovely, great sandy beaches with free parking and clean public conveniences, and a few lovely pubs to eat at. Small supermarkets (Morrisons and Co-op) are also around and are open late. Easy access to the rest of the island without going through St Helier, if driving, and frequent buses to St Helier or Grouville.

Great place to stay, picturesque, quaint, very 'chocolate box'. Fab if you like that sort of thing, I guess. It is a little off the beaten track but again, that's probably a plus. Not much choice for eating and what is there, apart from the 'Hungry Man' cafe, is not cheap. Could do with a general stores perhaps?

St peters is a good place to stay as quite central. Easy to get around the island . We had a car so was easy for us to move around We ate at other places in the Island as we have been many times so Portelet Inn was nice Colleen's at Greve du Leq is fab for breakfast or lunch Jersey Pearl nice for lunch after a walk on the beach/promenade Love watching the surfers on the beach at St Ouen You may hear the planes as close to the airport but didn't bother us and it's only daytime no night flights as the airport shuts overnight

There is a huge and lovely beach here. The area is good for swimming/surfing and it is not too busy. There are lifeguards on a southern section of the beach. We spent a week on Jersey but we could easily have enjoyed a couple of weeks as, beyond the beach itself, there is miles of easily accessible coastline to walk and explore.

We were revisiting after approximately 40 years and wanted to see if things had changed that much. Saint Helier is a lot busier with a lot more traffic. Being just out of summer season a lot of places were now closed for the winter. The beaches are lovely, but I'm not sure there are enough attractions to persuade families to swap a holiday in Spain etc. for a summer holiday in Jersey.

It has a lovely beach for children and facilities like a cafe, restaurants, toilets. A car park is close if needed. We ate at the Crab Shack and one night at Pizza Express as we were with young children, both of which were great. This is our second time staying here, enough said!!
