- From $330.83 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 521 reviewsWe want a hotel that was something special as we were celebrating with friends, a special anniversary and birthday. This hotel fitted the bill. The locations attracted us to this hotel, having a sea view and being able to hear the sea when sleeping was so relaxing. The hotel had a relaxed feeling with lovely decor and furniture with lovely artwork on the walls. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful (nothing was too much trouble) in particular the waitress who served us at dinner and breakfast was most helpful, curious, respectfully with a friendly manner and this was Alesha. (I'm sure other staff were just as helpful and pleasant) The food was topnotch with a good selection of dishes, it was well cooked, presented, tasty and hot. Even had the choice of being able to change some elements of the dish if there was something we didn't like. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive at the table after ordering. Plenty of comfortable seating areas, with sofas and chairs, giving a panoramic view of the bay. The bar was fairly well stocked only one small negative was they offered only 2 cocktails, where we tried one but disappointed with it (a peach drink with prosecco) There is a swimming pool of adequate size with a jacuzzi, this is situated a short walk in the hotel grounds, my only criticism is that the changing room is very small with no cubicle to change, and the area in where you get changed if right in front of the door so if anyone opens the door, to go in, from the passage way to the entrance to the pool, potentially a stranger can see straight in as you're getting undressed/dressed. The double room is smaller than I've found with similar hotels, but the view does compensate for some of this. There is a kettle with the choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, however no fruit teas. There was a compliment can of water for each person but this was just the first day, other day would be paid for.Guest review byClarkeUnited Kingdom
- From $223.72 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 3,003 reviewsWOW when you see the location. The hotel sits on a side of a hill that overlooks the lake and lake's valley. View is absolutely magnificent. THe same we thought of the hotel - just as if we transferred to the beginning of the 20th century. TYpical mountaneers style, with lots of timber, evening chill coming from the lake and that special mist that sets when the sun goes down. Our room was cute, cozy, stylish and very comfortable. We both adored the seat in the window sill with cussions and a tea tray. Breakfast was a feast to the mouth and to the eyes since the tables overlook the lake. Stay there at least a couple of nights to get a better impressions and feed yourself with the great atmosphere.Guest review byMike OkonPoland

Beautiful view, captivating scenery with local hikes and walks available. I loved the ride on the steam train from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge. As a solo traveller for the first time I was nervous about eating out so enjoyed fish and chips on the pier instead.Guest review bySuzyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We absolutely love the cathedral!
We absolutely love the cathedral! The museum was well worth a visit too & we discovered we had relatives who had served in the Boar War. There are excellent easy strolls to be had along the canal paths and plenty of shops to browse through. You'll never be short of a coffee shop in Brecon, there are loads to choose from.Guest review bykay - 10.0

great variety of shops, restaurants etc , good location for Breacon Beacon walking trails, love how the town is easy to navigate due to plenty of pedestrianised streets and those streets are full of flower boxesGuest review byClodaghIreland - 8.0

Rhayader is a lovely town but there is nothing much there anymore. It is the gateway town to Elan Valley, which is absolutely awesome...... the scenery and the walks are stunning. Couple of nice places to eat in Rhayader .... the Triangle and the Eagle. Theres a lovely riverside walk and the Gigrin is a must to see the Red Kites.Guest review byAndieUnited Kingdom - 6.0

If you are looking for an amazing beach with great dunes for long walks Aberdyfi is great. Other than that it is a very quiet seaside town with a few shops and places to eat. There is a train station that can take you along the coast, also a golf club and a bowling clubGuest review byAmandaUnited Kingdom - 6.0
We had a reason for visiting Llandrindod Wells - the...
We had a reason for visiting Llandrindod Wells - the Victorian Festival which, though is is on a much smaller scale than it used to be and mainly cut back (due to lack of funding from the County Council and other sources) to ticketed events, is still a fun week, with a selection of dances and themed events. However, the town itself is quite a disappointment these days. I used to come to town for the Victorian Festival in the 1990s, but also used to visit for work occasionally, so I saw it both in full 'festival' mode and as it is at other times of year. The most noticeable thing is how few shops are actually still shops! Many are empty. It is good to see that the excellent health food shop, Vans, is still there on Middleton Street, and also the craft shop (for supplies), Bon Marche, and the bookshop. But compared with 20 - 25 years ago, there are few shops. The Rock Park spa gardens are still lovely to explore, and (although we didn't get up to the lakeside) we heard that the Lakeside has been much improved over the last few years. The Cycle Museum is definitely worth a visit if you are a cycling enthusiast or have even a passing interest in the history of cycling - it is a treasure trove of cycles and cycling memorabilia. On the plus side, there are far more bars and cafes in the town centre than I remember from my earlier visits, so more choice there. We will be coming back - because for us it is a meeting point with friends. Otherwise perhaps a good place for an overnight stay while touring Wales.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake.
Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake. It seems to consist mainly of one high Street with various shops, pubs and eateries. The lake is beautiful. We hired a double kayak which cost 40.00ph and the whole hiring process was super easy. We also did the steam train ride along the lake which was lovely. There's lots more to explore so I'd definitely go back for a couple of days and explore the area some more.Guest review bysueUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I don't travel too far from the property, as I am happy with the local context, but if you like travelling out, then there is lots on locally and further out of Llandovery. Lots of stillness, peace and enjoying the natural world. Due to allergies, cooking facilities in the property make it really easy for eating in. Solo and families can enjoy lots of walks. A scattering of independent shops and pubs to enjoy.Guest review byAnonymous
