A lot of our enjoyment was weather dependent - beach, sea- open top buses £12 day pass for 5 of us ( one a 2 yr old). Grandson wanted to ride them all day - great way to travel from south to north bay and to visit Peasholme park. Attractive beach and backdrop - good to have beaches where dogs allowed but also where not allowed too. Attractive harbour where could get cheap short rides on 'pirate' boats out to sea. Sealife worth visiting esp on coastal open air train ride- log flume , boats and cafe etc at station. Variety of restaurants.Guest review byjacquelineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Whitby is very hilly so you need to be fairly fit to enjoy the town. Very picturesque around the harbour area. The abbey is a must to visit. My only negative was that there was too many dogs. The town appeared more dog friendly than children friendly.Guest review byRonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We came for an overnight stay and wished we had booked longer. We booked the Turkish Baths in advance as a treat and would definitely recommend the treatments, we returned the following day to do the Turkish Baths. Best to book as we would of liked the two together but it was really good. Lots of lovely places to eat .Guest review byLouiseUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Skipton exceeded our expectations.
Skipton exceeded our expectations. We were only there for the weekend for a celebration of a wedding. We got a day to explore. So much on offer! Canal boat trips, walks, castle local market on in the High Street. Lots of winding alleys to sweet independent shops and bakeries. More bars and pubs and cafes than I've seen anywhere! Beautiful Town Hall with a fantastic little museum that was great for kids too, with lots of interesting hands on experiences. I highly recomend a visit. Great 'Makers Market' going on too in the hall. A super base to see the Dale's and surrounding area.Guest review byTownsend - 10.0

This is a lovely and picturesque town in the incomparably lovely Yorkshire dales. There is a lovely market square with nice shops and restaurants, a fabulous Georgean theatre, a terrific castle to explore, and a nearby ruined abby that is an easy walk from the centre of town. (Every town needs a ruined abbey, right?)Guest review byBeverleeCanada - 8.0
The Abbey is certainly worth seeing.
The Abbey is certainly worth seeing. The history is great and the fact that it's still being used is tremendous The town is easy to get around parking not too difficult and has a good selection of shops 👌Guest review byPorter - 10.0

Knaresborough is a lovely little town with a fabulous iconic view from the castle over to the viaduct. Beautiful walk at the side of the River Nidd to St James' Retail Park and visit the Watermill Cafe on the edge of the river.Guest review byLesleyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We weren't there long enough to really get to know the village (town?) but it looked as if there were some interesting walks for the dogs, an interesting river, birdwatching oportunities etc, and quite a few pubs for a place that size! Always a good shout. It also lacked a really busy main road cutting through (at least, from where we were staying) so not much traffic noise and easy to get about without getting knocked down!Guest review byo loan - 10.0
Been a few times to Filey for day trips but never stayed.
Been a few times to Filey for day trips but never stayed. First time we'd been up into the town, was pleasantly surprised by the lovely independent shops, lovely bars and restaurants. Beach was beautiful, one of the best I've seen on the east coast. Will definitely return.Guest review byPatUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Thirsk is a wonderful old market town surrounded by farms.
Thirsk is a wonderful old market town surrounded by farms. Town centre is quite nice & charming. Some of the surrounding area is a bit run down. St. Mary's is a beautiful church, Monk Park farm is great for kids to see animals hands on. People are friendly. I could have stayed longer.Guest review byShaylonUnited States
