There is so much to see in Oxford that a day visit is not enough, we had 3 days and I would still say there was more I wanted to see. I would book a guided tour of the Bodleian libraries and the Sheldonian Theatre, the only way you can see inside these buildings and tours get booked quickly. I would do a guided walking tour as the guides give you so much information. We did the Midday river retreat with Salters steamers which was a wonderful way to see beyond the city boundaries. They also provide a food option on this trip, which we did not partake of but wished we had and those that did said how good it was. Many colleges allow access free of charge, often between 1-5pm whilst others charge a small fee. Christchurch college appears to be one of the busiest with a higher entrance fee accessed via Christchurch meadow , very pretty. Although we did not go to any museums on this visit there are many. Do not rush, take your time, and enjoy the history of this beautiful cityGuest review byKarenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A nice little town which we visited for social reasons. Hit on market day which added to the atmosphere. Other than that we did not spend a lot of time there but would like to investigate further should there be a next time.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It's a lovely village as has numerous nearby villages that are definitely worth visiting. We were looking to have a chat with locals in a pub and weren't disappointed. Everyone we met was friendly to us and we certainly enjoyed the various village pubs we visited. We particularly liked the Blue Boar in Chipping Norton (sitting outside basking in the sun) and Chequers at Churchill - great atmosphere with good food and service. Also close to Diddly Squat and Farmer's Dog which we visited and were lucky enough to meet Gerald at the Farm shop. We didn't go into the shop or the pub but as a visitor we enjoyed the alternate experiences available.Guest review bySandraAustralia - 2.0

I have never visited Banbury, but is well known due to the nursery rhyme Banbury Cross hence I had positive expectations. However, I was disappointed to see beautiful historic buildings (many hundreds of years old of tudor design) had their ground floor gutted to house Chicken takeaways, turkish barbers, vape shops, etc. How has the council let that happen. At some point, these must have been listed buildings, and I am guessing the buildings works were done years ago before such heritage was protected. There were some nice shops eventually found, but the route I walked in (along Oxford Road) was littered with boarded up premises, vape shops, mobile phone shops, barbers and small 24 hours convenience stores. Not what I was expecting, and I will tick Banbury off my list of places to not visit ever again. Even Wetherspoons (a good staple in any town) was indicative with smokers and drunks gathered at the entrance, so you either pushed through them or walked by. I carried on walking.Guest review byAnneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Delightful old town with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Lovely old buildings, especially the almshouses and the church. Friendly people. Good eating places. Smashed avocado at The Pablo Lounge is excellent! Good location for catching a bus into Oxford or for exploring the area generally. Walks along river delightful.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 2.0

The front desk was terrible and gave us a downgrade on our room and then told us there was nothing that could be done due to being sold out and because we used Bookings.com. We complained, asked for the manager and showed the pictures on a Superior room from their website and on our booking. He moved us to a family room, but it had 2 double beds and two chairs seating vs a Superior room has a king bed and a settee and a desk. It was not what we wanted, but it was better than the standard room with a king bed (incredibly small room) that they tried to put us in.Guest review byTrinaUnited States - 6.0
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along.
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along. Sit and watch the birds, fish, boats, dragonflies, and people enjoying themselves. The Rose Revived Public House and Restaurant is not for fine dining but you can have a wonderful meal and a lovely drink in nice surroundings. The willows and gardens are lovely. The waitresses like Ella are well trained and full of life.Guest review byNicholas - 8.0

An attractive small town, right next door to Blenheim Palace and near to Oxford: an excellent base for exploring the area more generally. The town has lots of places to eat and drink, and some useful shops, including a co-op in the centre of town. Prices aren't cheap, but quality is good. Parking can be a bit of a problem at busy periods, but we managed OK.Guest review byGeoffreyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
