FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From COP 546,560 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,904 reviewsI stay at Kilconquhar Castle Estate whenever I visit Fife for work and golf. It is in a perfect location close to many of the top golf courses in the world. The staff are always personable, accommodating, and helpful. The villas, although a bit dated, are perfect for golf holidays with a group of friends. We loved having the three-hole warm-up area available before hitting the links, as most Scots do not warm up before playing. The bar is a great place to unwind after a day on the links. I highly recommend the estate.Guest review byRichard P. AttishaCanada

Edinburgh is a must see. My granddaughter saw everything! We could walk everywhere once we go to the city center. We toured the Castle, Palace, Hiked Arthur's Seat, ate at Sheep Head Inn in Duddingston, Museum & Art Museum were great & free. Food was great everywhere. Bus & train system is easy to use. You must go to the Scottish Design Exchange (all local artist).Guest review byJamesUnited States - 8.0

I visit Glasgow regularly as there's always things to do and see. Personally, I use the train a lot and find that I can quickly get out into the beautiful Scottish countryside easily and quickly. Glasgow spoils you for choice in terms of places to eat and drink. Whether it's typical pub food (with or without haggis) or Italian, Japanese, Korean, Indian, you'll definitely find a good quality and reasonably priced place to eat and drink. Check out the art galleries, museums and cultural hotspots and you won't be disappointed, even if the grey weather can make things look a bit tired. You never know, you might get some sunshine!Guest review byRory FlynnUnited Kingdom - 6.0

It took a while to find a real pub, but the Glenalbyn was great. Way too many glitzy bars or eateries pretending to be pubs though. Homeless people seem a problem, though the guy selling the Big Issue outside the railway station was great, friendly and good for directions, it was the others begging who were a worry.Guest review byJonathanUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The art gallery is fantastic, lots of great exhibitions shown there.Great interactive learning stations for children+good cafe near entrance + a small coffee + cake one on 2nd floor where you can sit outside with view down the city.Footdee is a lovely old fishertown area near the huge beach+harbour. The famous Codonas beach park is expanding.Lots of great bars and places to eat.Good shopping centres but the only let down for me is Union street, the large wide main street which has lots of closed shops and looks run down.Guest review byjeanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A friendly place. The museum is great and the old fellow who greets you was lovely, and informative. The shops were good and interesting. The Volunteer pub was brilliant. Cozy Cafe was lovely. A beautiful accessible little town. Fabulous independant shops and restaurants. Pitlochry is gorgeous all year round but particularly in the Autumn. Locals are very welcoming. A wee visit to the gorgeous St Brides RC chapel is recommended. And the Seafood Linguine in the Auld Smiddy is to die for. Thanks to everyone who made our stay special 🧡Guest review byElizabethUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The fact that we stayed beside the grounds of the Battle of Bannockburn was fantastic, great history, unfortunately the visitor centre was closed during our stay. We were there for the history and were not disappointed, taking in the Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Battle of Bannockburn, The Kelpies, and the Falkirk Wheel. Having a rental vehicle with built in navigation was a bonus and made getting around so much easier than if doing so strictly by map.Guest review byrobertsonCanada - 4.0
The lobby area was great. Loved the decor!
The lobby area was great. Loved the decor! I loved all the seating areas. Loved the bar and coffee stations. The rooms were bad. The carpeting was taped up with electrical tape. The shower curtain had mold on it. The body wash dispenser was not filled. It was empty. One of the lightbulbs was out. The beds were so hard and uncomfortable. It seemed like the lobby area did not belong to the same hotel as the bedrooms. Did love the convenience of walking to our early flight.Guest review byJosieUnited States
