Market town which stretches either side of the River Tone...
Market town which stretches either side of the River Tone with the imposing cricket floodlights surveying the scene. The rail station is at one end of the town but the heart is at the opposite end, about a 20 min walk that takes you the shops, pubs and restaurants. No shortage of places to have a coffee, usual range of shops, demographics certainly on the older side. Library has a nice cafe to complement a large range of books including local ones. Museum of Somerset is free though they would like a donation.Guest review byGerryUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Bridgwater is a sad place.
Bridgwater is a sad place. The river trade, upon which its very existence depends, is gone and Bridgwater is not developing a replacement economy. The few shops still open are quiet, charity shops or selling vapes or other useless trash. A depressing place to visit. I stopped here to find Somerset wicker basket sellers. They've gone online!Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Exceptional cathedral and Bishop's Palace with walk round moat and Sean's and medieval street. Lively town, compact and interesting and easy to walk round with good mixture of shops and cafes and market days. Friendly atmosphereGuest review byDeborahUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A quirky town with a bohemian atmosphere.
A quirky town with a bohemian atmosphere. Just go and explore. You won't find any shops or cafes from the big chains but you'll be able to buy a book on ley-lines, witch potion ingredients, crystals for healing or a fairy grotto for no obvious purpose. Its a crazy, unique and essentially English place and well worth a visitGuest review bygrahamUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Very beautiful town.
Very beautiful town. Bit hilly but have your walking shoes ready as it's picture postcard. Lots of places to see and to go to. The George Inn had the best pub grub burgers. Never eaten ones like it before.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

Some of Yeovil is attractive (church area) but the rest is fairly run down. Very noisy nightclub near where we were on Saturday night until 4am…… Tambourino very nice Italian good. Very popular so Definately book. The Ilchester Arms in Ilchester very nice Sunday lunch. Yeovil is great base for visiting Fleet Air Arm and Haynes Motor museum or Sherborne.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
We liked easy walks along the promenade and to the harbour.
We liked easy walks along the promenade and to the harbour. Shops in the Avenue were interesting and convenient. Pub meals not good but Fish and Chips good and we liked the Wheelhouse Restaurant. Had to book for next evening. Visited Dunster and Porlock which were picturesque villages but difficult to park and get around easily. Dunster Castle too expensive. Main road to Minehead from M5 narrow, winding and busy - quite dangerous. Took bus to Porlock.Guest review byWallace - 4.0

Delightfully old town especially Silver Street with its old shops, market square and fine church. Highlight was revisiting Sweet Surprise, which is still run as it did many years ago - charity tea room/sweet shop/bakery/ arts and crafts souvenirs.Guest review bygerryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I feel that the high street has been combined with the Clarks village extremely well. I also thought the high street was very attractive with the flower arrangements and a good collection of shops. It seemed to be a thriving high street. We ate at the Bear Inn, which I would definitely recommend to other travellers, excellent food and extremely friendly staff.Guest review bykarenUnited Kingdom
