Alonnissos has great beaches, excellent food (traditional and modern), nice weather and a few folklore and antiquities (mainly on the Ottoman period, while some underwater archaeological sites are developing right now). It's good to have a car (and even better a 4X4), since most beaches are not in walking distance. Chora (the old village) is really pittoresque.Guest review byCostisGreece - 8.0
Beautiful island, very quiet and safe
Beautiful island, very quiet and safe Very good and tasty food on restaurants and taverns Not many places to visit, but Skopelos is very close and we make an 1 day trip to visit't. The monk seal is a marketing glich - local fishermans tell me that they saw one 2 or 3 years ago I went shore fishing 3-4 times , get 1 squid and 1 amberjack and some small see bass and breams - catch and relese !Guest review byDan IoanRomania - 8.0
The island is beautiful, very green, wonderful beaches.
The island is beautiful, very green, wonderful beaches. The village is super cute and overall it is a fantastic place with loads of history. Would definitely recommend it for people who wish to have a peaceful, easy going and relaxing holiday! Ideal for couples and families. Some of the restaurants could use an upgrade on the menu. Traditional greek food has a lot more to offer than the standard menu most restaurants offer in the island.Guest review byEpistemeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Steni Vala is a small fishing village, now used by yachts over night. There are lots of excellent taverns. Most offer accommodation. You can spend time just people watching. Eat and drink talking to the locals who are very friendly, some are famous. There is a dive centre and water activity’s. Beaches are Peebles.Guest review bySaraGreece - 10.0

Quiet bay with small sand and pebble beach, water is calm and great for swimming and snorkelling. A few houses and apartments around bay, 5-10 minute walk to Steni Vala on a good path, however path is rough for pulling a case if arrive by bus.Guest review byJoanneUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The bay is a little off the beaten track, so a car, scooter or a longish and steep walk is needed. There are coastal walks you can take to move to beaches further north. There are a couple of bars next to the Milia beach, with umbrellas and beds on the beach., although there is also plenty of free beach either side of this.Guest review byNeilItaly - 10.0

Alonnisos and Patitiri is one of our favorite islands in Greece. This is the fourth time we have visited the island and there will be another visit next year. Here, life still goes smoothly, little stress, not overcrowded with tourists. And then they have the "best" Greek restaurant "OSTRIA" we have experienced in our 29 years of holidays in Greece. If you like seafood, try the unique mussel dish they have... superb!Guest review bySmall4estNorway - 10.0

Nice quiet location, close to nearby markets and a very good souvlaki / gyros place - very tasty and very good value. If you like walking, Milia beach is not far and Spartines is perfect on a calm day. In Patitiri the restaurant we liked most was Bacco. This is authentic Italian with beautiful pasta and pizza, prepared by the very pleasant Italian who provides a good range of beautiful Italian wines at modest prices- wines that have been well cared for despite the heat of summer. A wonderful place to relax and dine. A good range of imported fine Italian ingredients ranging from a pasta to wine and cheeses can be bought from this restaurant.Guest review byChristopher - 8.0
We loved the old town and the beaches were gorgeous.
We loved the old town and the beaches were gorgeous. The amazing smell of the wild fig trees was amazing as you drove around the island. We were only disappointed with the port town of Patitri which was a bit rundown. We felt 2 nights in Alonnisos is perfect. Stay in old town and there are a couple of great restaurants and an amazing piano bar for after dinner - so fun. Great spots to sit and have drinks in the center as well.Guest review byJillUnited States - 10.0

Middle to end of May was so very quiet and peaceful, you need car to get around to the many beaches and fishing ports, Old Town and wonderful restaurants. It was a little cold at the start of our trip 21st May and we needed a fleece for the evenings. The sea was fresh, but warmed up towards the end of May. If you want quiet, peace and relaxation a great place to visit in early or late season. If you want a little more then visit July / August where it is much warmer, the bars are open and it much busier, with sunbeds on the beach and music in many bars on the beach. If you want to enjoy some Spa Treatments, Lunch, Cocktails, then visit Infinity 180 / The Amani 180 - need to book. This is a family business and Sharon, Mark, Luke and Ewa will make you very WelcomeGuest review byChristineUnited Kingdom
