Corfu is one of my favorite Mediterranean cities with a perfect combination of charm and history, located right on the Ionian Sea near Italy. My second visit was as lovely as my first. The history and culture are fantastic. It has Greek charm with a wonder British Colony flare. The people are lovely, the food is fantastic, and reasonably priced. We didn't have a bad meal the entire trip. There is much to do and definitely worth venturing out to other parts of the island--either via an excursion, or just renting a car and driving around. The "pirate" ship and hop on, hop off buses are a great way to get a quick overview. We were also able to visit a spa for some much needed relaxation.Guest review byLisa - 8.0

Paleokastritsa comprises a number of mid to small sized "beaches" though some are no more than a few rocks or pebbles. The water, as with the rest of the island, is crystal clear and deliciously warm, ideal for snorkeling or diving. There are plenty of activities on offer though I prefer to walk about and particularly enjoyed the walk up to the Corfu Donkey Sanctuary.Guest review byrbUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lots of bars, restaurants (recommend The Hive) and souvenir shops as you would expect along a 'strip' but there are quieter places alongside the beach. Plenty to see in and around the local area such as Cape Drastis, the Canal D'Amour and Porto Timoni. If travelling the north coast to Sidari, watch out for mobile signal as it dips in and out of Albania's signal and you could face unexpected roaming charges. Very central to visit Corfu town by bus €1.60 e.w. for a day trip, gouvia is lovely, gr8 restaurants, fresh food & the beach was lovely, every restaurant we ate in was delish, especially the chinese restaurant, ooh and the bar with the Elvis tribute was brilliant and reasonably priced for drinks too. During the 80s when I worked there, it had a bit of a reputation as a Party Place, but totally different now, and quite sophisticated in the centre, with great restaurants and shops. The beaches are very fine shingle. There is a lot of traffic going through so care needed when not on a pavement. Dassia is a great location to spend time in Corfu.
Dassia is a great location to spend time in Corfu. It is close to the main attractions of the island. One downside are the beaches that are just with pebbles and have very thin shore. Acharavi was a good town with lots of shops, restaurants and 3 supermarkets. The beach wasn't the best one as it has quite a lot of stones but its a short drive to really good sandy beaches at Roda and Agios Spiridonas. We enjoyed meals at Odysseus and Maestro - where they have a 'Greek Night' of music and dancing on a Tuesday evening, but book ahead. Also near Agios Spiridonas there is 'North Corfu Horses' where there are different options for horse rides. It’s just outside the town and it’s great if you don’t want the business of the crowded city but still want to be at a location that offers you the ability to travel to all parts of the island.
