Food was great, staff was super friendly. It’s a newer hotel and you could tell everyone was working very hard to make a good impression. The location was wonderful too, easy access to the beach and a bunch of great restaurants are very close by. Katerina at the spa was very nice as well and made sure we had everything we needed to relax and unwind.

Hotel was in a central location near a busy area of restaurants which were very reasonably priced. Very comfortable bed & had a great sleep! Shower was really powerful. Good breakfast with hot & cold options. Loved the design & decor of the hotel. The staff were lovely, particularly the lady that met us when we arrived late evening.

Nice and quiet where the hotel is. They offer a free taxi service to take you into town and back. Would recommend getting the breakfast included as there’s no where to eat near the hotel. Hotels food and drinks are very good. Staff are super friendly they bought out more deckchairs for us when it got busy by the pool. They also can arrange taxis for you to and from the airport for €26, if you’re coming here I wouldnt rent a car, its very hilly and you dont need one! But for the most part it’s very quiet, clean and looks just as good as the pictures.

Centuries of History, Days of Sunshine

The largest Greek island, mountainous Crete has stunning beaches, plenty of history and as much or little nightlife as you want. Party town Malia has many bars, clubs and restaurants on its Strip.

Along the coast is the capital Heraklion, a bustling city home to many Crete hotels on the beach, and a Venetian castle guarding its port. Its archaeological museum includes finds from the island’s Minoan era, while just inland are the Roman remains of Knossos.

Also boasting a Venetian castle is Rethymnon, a popular resort with a good number of Crete hotels with private pools on Booking.com. Loggerhead turtles nest in season on the sandy beaches here and at Chania, an important port with an attractive waterfront set against the backdrop of mountains.

On the other side of the island is Aghios Nikolaos, a small fishing town with a picturesque harbour. Just north is Elounda, a popular family resort, and offshore is Spinaloga island, inspiration behind the book ‘The Island’. Matala in the south has a bohemian vibe and intriguing cliff dwellings, while Paleokastro in the east borders Europe’s largest palm forest at Vai.

The breakfast was excellent but what made the experience exceptional was the staff and a special acknowledgement to George and his breakfast team Despina and Sophia at the reception , Michalis, Danae, Antoni at the beach and Zacharias and Dino - they were all awesome . Our vacation ended with a special touch with an impeccable drive to the airport with Ari who invited us to his hometown and convinced us to return to Crete !

nice spaceous room. We had a half-board: it was a variative dinner, with some specialities every evening, and base set of other meals. It is on a beach side, although need to pay separatelly for a sunbed on the beach. But you can use a pool on the roof with some amount of free sunbeds there.

The old town is worth visiting especially during low season, when there is more space and tourists are not jostling for restaurant tables and selfie spots. There are several good restaurants in the old Venetian port, look for places where locals are eating.

We were sadly only here for a quick overnight stay. But during our week in Crete - where we travelled to Chania, Heraklion, and Rethymno - Rethymno was by some margin my favourite destination. Where Chania's historic centre felt as if it had been totally given over to tourism, Rethymno felt more like a substantial town with plenty to explore.

However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

Visited at the beginning of October and a lot of places beginning to close for the season. Town quiet but pleasant. Unfortunately the ferry to Agios Nikolaos does not run anymore so it’s a long drive if you want to visit

The perfect place for peaceful vacation.

The perfect place for peaceful vacation. The city itself is nice but not something extraordinary, but you get the best food in Greece alongside the best beaches in the World! Try Psarropoula, Kakkos and all other beaches in Ferma area. Make beautiful trips to Chryssi Island or Agios Nikolaos (30min), Siteia (45min), Vai, Oropedio Lasithiou etc.

For those who want a quiet get-away and yet close shopping, Kissamos is hard to beat. Close to the port for Balos-Gramvousa excursions and secluded for a wonderful relaxed time with your loved one. Gramvousa Restaurant is a must, a short drive to a memorable dining experience. Loved snorkeling and fish sightings around rocky areas. Pictures cannot capture the panoramic breath-taking setting.

Small and nice city with many good tavernas/shops.Nice and clean beaches there.It is a must to see it category. Lovely local people everywhere (shops and tavernas), good portions of food for correct price.
