The room we had was spacious and extremely comfortable with a king size bed and pool lounges on the balcony to take in the sunset! The location was perfect especially if you didn’t want lots of stairs. Located between the bus station and the main streets of Oia , it meant that you were right in the activity of Santorini but still far enough away to have peace and quiet. The pool was a god send and large enough to accommodate all the guests.

A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.

You have to be prepared for what is a very hilly town. The worse times are when the cruise ships arrive, that’s when it’s worth visiting other parts of Santorini. So beautiful and picturesque! Take lots of photos, you won’t regret it! Restaurants are a bit overpriced but there are plenty of other food options around. It's not a sandy beach, but it's very beautiful. You should have that special shoes to walk on the beach because of the little rocks. We used public transportation and it's ok. The price is fair and they have buses to all the main places of the island. We had breakfast at a small coffee shop near the hotel and it was amazing both the food and the staff. Glad I booked Imerovigli over Oia or Fira. It was quieter, more affordable, has amazing views and walking distance to great restaurants. We ate at the White Lounge and La Moustache which were both fantastic. Also easily accessible from the road without too many steps. Highly recommend!Guest review byNickyBAustralia - 2.0

It’s an expensive town. Beach is difficult - all bars and restaurants offer ‘free sunloungers’ to customers but then you must spend at least €20pp in the restaurant- and are persistent on reminding you to spend the money. There is VERY difficult sea access all along the beach - slippery flat rock for quite a while - so getting in and out of the sea was somewhat challenging. And large waves. Not much happening in Karterados and Fira is bloody expensive. I would however recommend moving on to other nicer islands such as Milos, Ios, Naxos and particularly Paros. Akrotiri is a beautiful town. I definitely recommend visiting the Akrotiri archaeological site, but the entrance fee of 20 euros is honestly way too expensive. Best location in Santorini you can get just in the the heart right in between Thira and Imerovigli - 10-15mins walk in both directions. Beautiful and relaxing town with everything you could ask for and still without the noise from clubs until late night like in Thira!
