FAQs about hotels in Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.
Wherever you choose to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of B&Bs, apartments and hotels in Santorini (Thira in Greek).

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 146 reviewsSince we arrived, we were so taken in by the unbelievable beauty of the hotel and how attentive, welcoming and professional the staff were. Apostolia by the front desk, Thanasis by the restaurant and of course Aris for having such a team are absolutely worth a mention. Breakfast was full of Mediterranean taste and super matching the ambience of the insane caldera view. As it comes to the room we were so surprised with the state of the art sound system, the size of the bed, the cleanliness of the room and the lovely jacuzzi! We definitely recommend the hotel for anyone travelling to Santorini. Through whatsapp they arranged anything we asked for and we couldn’t be happier. Transfer to the airport and back was arranged by the hotel, restaurant reservations, wine tours, boat tours and although we didn’t rent a car, we could through the hotel. So easy and possible. Overall, this is what hospitality should be like! Thank you!Guest review bySebastianNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 341 reviewsThis Hotel was Great. The staff was wonderful starting even before we arrived, by reaching out and extending certain courtesies to us. They were always available to answer questions. They went above and beyond expectations and ensured everyone felt welcome. The front desk staff were very informative; the pool, bar, and meal staff bent over backwards to ensure your every need was met, they were able to pre-place what you needed before you ask for it, and just ensure you have the best holiday/vacation. Their staff even carried your luggage to your room and from your room upon check out. This was some of the best service we have ever received overall. The service combined with the beautiful view, game room, spa and two pools were just what we needed and well worth the money. They have our HIGHEST Recommendation.Guest review byDennisGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 234 reviewsFrom the moment we checked in and met Harris on reception the whole visit was like a dream. Not only is she super friendly and helpful and knowledgeable she really goes out of her way to make your trip the most it can be. All the staff were lovely and polite and housekeeping went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The room was spacious and clean and the plunge pool was the perfect remedy for the heat. We will definitely be returning to this property as it is in a perfect location. Yes you don’t get the sunset view but to be honest that was a blessing. Cross the road and take a maximum of 20 steps and you are on the Caldera side to appreciate the sunset without a hoard of tourists walking past your room.Guest review byAvanUnited Arab Emirates
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 219 reviewsHas one of the best views of the caldera cliffs in Santorini. Led by Fay and her team they do their very best to help make your stay more than enjoyable. If you can afford it, get room 30 which has the Jacuzzi that is fully covered inside your room with the views looking out and completely private. Otherwise get a room with an outside Jacuzzi because the pools are not heated and you will appreciate it. Find quality soaps from Blvgary brand. Breakfast is served on your balcony and complementary and very delicious. Caution: lots of steps, LOTS. Maid service twice a day.Guest review byBadiUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 205 reviewsWe loved staying in the cream suite with our very own pool, private entrance and balcony. The room was super spacious and facilities were great. The staff were all very kind and very professional. The reception staff were always available and ready to help. The views from the hotel is amazing and breakfast in the balcony was incredible. I also thoroughly enjoyed the massage I got from Eri, the on site physical therapist. She is a trained professional and masseuse - best and most relaxing massage I’ve gotten so far.Guest review byRakshitaIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 67 reviewsThe food and experience were great! This was the last leg of our trip and it was nice to wind down with a massage and relaxation/drinks by the pool! We loved all the staff, especially the bartenders!! The drink and food menu had plenty to pick from. The hotel made several accommodations for us, which was very helpful, including taxi rides to and from Oia. We spent two weeks on the island in Fira, We stayed one week on the east side and one week on the west side. The east side of the island is quieter. You need to walk to shops and restaurants - uphill, so lots of cardio! We stayed at Hill Suites. A lovely, relaxing and private accommodation with a perfect lanai breakfast every morning. Thomas, the manager was an excellent host! The second week we spent on the caldera side. Very busy!!!! Shops and restaurants surround you. No cars here. Streets are lovely, narrow, winding paths leading you from one surprise to another. Everywhere the views are stunning! The best resource on the island is the bus terminal located in Fira. This terminal is a hub and spoke terminal. All buses leave and return to this terminal each trip. You can go anywhere for 2 euros one way. An excellent way to see the island! The buses run frequently so if you miss one, don't worry there will be another shortly. They also service the airport! Across the street from the bus depot is the Museum. A must see after you have visited the excavations at Akrotiri at the south end of the island. Really, find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy a beverage while taking in the view and watching the activities around you. Remember to breathe. Relax. Enjoy.Guest review byKathrynCanada - 10.0

On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes of caldera, so it has different levels. On the plus side as soon as you leave the hotel you are on the famous Fira/Oia walk - turn right for Fira. You are on the highest part of the caldera so initially it is downhill, also you are close to Skaros rock which is worth visiting for the views and has a church partially hidden on the seaward side at a slightly lower elevation. As long as you can look to the sea you will have great sunset views wherever you are,my hotel patio was great for this.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit. It's wasn't too crowded either, so if you consider going, do so Early - Mid September.Guest review bySherman SiegeLuxembourg - 8.0

A village with bakery, gyros place, souvenir shop & good sized mini market. Walkable to Fura though a noisy main road. Buses good too but more value for money the further you are going. Taxis quite expensive so we walked a lot.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. Greece is not cheap these days so you have to pay the same as in UK for meals etc. Wine is very expensive but nice to see that they only sell Greek wine in supermarkets and restaurants.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Liked that it was away from Fira. Fira so crowded. One day 6 cruise ships in Port. We ate 2 nights at Romantica taverna. Traditional Greek restaurant, good food and happy staff. Easy to walk around in you don't mind stairs and uphill. Walk from Fira to Oia 10km, something to do and overview of area.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 10.0
