The expensive view. The expensive breakfast. Recommendations from guest services. Ivan in guest services was especially helpful. availability of bikes to ride to the nearby park and to town. Art around the hotel and rooms except the korbel design in breakfast room).

Hotel Nautica exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and welcoming. The staff were incredibly polite, professional, and genuinely warm – it really made a difference. Our room was spacious, beautifully clean, and very comfortable, with lovely nautical details that gave it a unique charm. The entire property is extremely well-maintained and stylish. One of the highlights for us was how pet-friendly the hotel is – our furry companion was treated like a guest in their own right, which we deeply appreciated. If you're looking for a relaxing, high-quality stay in Novigrad with fantastic service and comfort, this is the place. Can’t wait to come back!

FAQs about hotels in Istria

Land of History, Sun and Wine

The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.

Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.

The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.

Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.

Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.

Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

The town was perfect size so walking is easy for everyone.

The town was perfect size so walking is easy for everyone. Please note the cobbled streets can be a little slippery so fancy high heeled shoes are a No-No! The local people are kind and friendly and everyone is catered for. Little tip:- book restaurants early to avoid disappointment not obtaining a reservation.

Post season Umag seems like a cozy small town. I expected more but then maybe my expectations were set too high considering its a popular destination for locals. Although I only stayed there for one night, I can't provide a comprehensive report but we did manage to walk around the city and resort complex. The location seems ideal for an activities holiday destination with a lot of parks and paths for walking/hiking, bike riding, etc.
