3 very clean pools, plenty of chairs and loungers including on the beach. Cabins were spotless and included balcony, seating, loungers and hammock. The hotel is right on the beach. Plenty of warungs nearby for food and drinks including some smart restaurants to enjoy. Snorkeling gear, bicycle available to hire. And as it was our honeymoon we had amazing flower decorations in our cabin, and a cake on my birthday. All the staff go out of their way to ensure you have a fantastic time. Movies and bonfire on the beach. Just book it!!!

It’s spacious, it’s artistically designed and appealing to the eye. There is Smart TV with NETFLIX and YouTube in every room. Air conditioning works well. Beds are huge and comfortable. Exceptionally great place. Hidden oasis within the centre of Gili Air. We stayed at the KOHO Air twice now for around 8 nights and it’s always been a wonderful stay. Beautiful hotel, very clean and great staff. We will definitely be back for a third time :-)

The location is wonderful, a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the center. The restaurant on the beach is on point and busy even in low season. They offer free bikes to move around the island, and you can reach the center in 10 minutes by bike. Really perfect! After a very long research on properties in the island, I found this recently opened hotel which didn't have many reviews, but look new and attractive for us. Once we got there, we fell in love with it. The pool was great and the room we stayed in looked very new. The staff was the nicest and the breakfast was delicious. You can also rent a bike in the reception so you can get around the island. It is also very central and very near to the port. 100% recommended.

Indonesia's Laid-back Lombok

A great alternative to busy Bali is lazy Lombok, a more authentic representation for tourists who wish to explore one of Indonesia’s more than 17,000 islands. It is separated from its naughty neighbor by the Lombok Strait to the east and from Sumbawa by the Alas Strait to the west.

Lombok is a typical island paradise of paddy fields, pristine beaches, jungle escapes and mountain retreats. It is largely inhabited by the local Sasak people with a small percentage of Balinese settlers.

Many hotels on Booking.com are centred around the capital of Mataram and the beaches stretching along the north-eastern coastline, including the sweeping bays of Senggigi. Medana Bay is another great northern location for people wanting to visit the nearby Gili Islands, a wonderful snorkeling location and nightlife choice.

Escape the tropical heat in the mountains surrounding Gunung Rinjani, an active volcano where tourists can break in their newly acquired trekking shoes. Other adventures abound on the southern surf beaches of Lombok.

Lombok International Airport is located 33 km south-west from Mataram and services daily flights mainly from Jakarta and Bali. This round-shaped island is approximately 80 km in both directions and offers plenty of variety for a great holiday.

Excellent villa with amazing views across Teluk Aan - amazing sea colours. 10 mins walk to Gerupuk village (or 5 mins scooter) for surfing trips which were excellent to a variety of locations in the bay and suitable for range of skills. Short drive to Kuta Lombok (15 mins) for dinner / more tourist activities - roads are empty and good due to the Moto GP circuit being built nearby - big contrast to Bali! Only about 30 mins from the airport. Villa has 4 double bedrooms, beautiful pool and terrace and open plan living area. We ate in the villa 2 nights - staff cook a great barbecue - the local lobster was outstanding definitely request this! Breakfast also very good - cooked whatever requested. Staff super friendly arranged car, boat trips etc and always on hand to help out.

I love the pool, friendly staff, nice and quiet, but not too far away from the beach and all you need. I loved that they do not have plastic water bottles at all. Fresh refills in glass bottles when you need water. I recommend hiring a bicycle they supply for IDR 50,000 a day.

A bustling town with much to explore and many bars and restaurants to choose from. When we come again (and we will) we would like to do more trips exploring the outlying areas. Our main purpose for travel was to attend a wedding at Selong Selo resort (also fabulous with spectacular views) so we didn't do much exploring this time. It was sad to see so much plastic rubbish on roadsides. The infrastructure, at the moment, does not deal with this but efforts are being made.

The Gili Islands are beautiful, if you can look past the masses of European tourists who have overwhelmed it and who seem determined to create a French Riviera experience in Indonesia. Unfortunately, the locals - seeing where the money is - seem content to allow their island to be overrun. If you want to get gratin dauphinois or eat in a Greek cafe called Santorini in Indonesia whilst competing with the rest of the EU for a square of beach or to see a poor beleaguered turtle, then Gili islands is for you. If you're looking for an authentic Indonesian beach experience, go elsewhere.

Stayed at tne katamaran hotel, stunning hotel with great food and provided a restful quiet break in stunning surroundings. Both restaurants on site provided great food. The spa was also gorgeous. The entire stay was heavenly! Alu at tne senggigi ferry port organised an amazing day snorkelling at three of the Gili islands. Paradise!

A small island featuring numerous resorts with white sand beaches, making it a very relaxing destination. The best grilled fish we had was at Tika Warung during our 35-day trip across Indonesia, including Bali, Gili, and Lombok, prepared by a fisherman‘s wife. However, we were disappointed that we couldn't rent an electronic scooter; only bikes or horse-drawn carts were available. Additionally, the persistent salespeople around the restaurant and beach- selling shell jewellery and Medications were bothersome.

The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so...

The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so welcoming and friendly. They will do almost anything to cater for travellers, for example I am 68 and wouldn’t have been able to do the 6 km walking tour up and down hills and uneven surfaces so they organised a motorbike tour which was great. The tour of the villages was also good and very interesting and informative to see the local market, pottery being made, textile weaving and bamboo weaving. There was a good variety of food and the family dinner was wonderful, so much delicious local food. The accommodation was suitable in a peaceful environment. I really enjoyed my stay.

Selong belanak is a charming location with friendly locals and great food! Main beach Munah is buzzing with people holidaying and learning to surf With Warungs along the beach you can grab a board or a cold Bintang and enjoy the water Homestays are the way to go but there are also Also beachfront restaurants and resort style places. Beautiful surrounding areas and still quite enough to enjoy local farming I hope it stays this way and foreign resorts do not take over.

Was exhausted after Mt.

Was exhausted after Mt. Rinjani climb and this impacted on my exploration of the wider area, which I would've liked to have done more of. Also despite being officially the 'dry season', the weather was often overcast and rainy. I think had things been slightly different and I had had more time, the experience would have been better.. But still a lovely place that has less tourists than other parts of Indonesia.

Strawberry picked was fun.

Strawberry picked was fun. Look at google maps to find places with at least 5 good reviews to find somewhere to go. Hiking Pergasagan Hill and spending the night was amazing! Only thing to note though is that there are a lot of mosques here and they are VERY loud. We didn't get much sleep during our stay.

Small island but has everything, the local are very friendly...

Small island but has everything, the local are very friendly, so many bar and nice restaurants, few places for party as well and of course crystal clear water and white sand beaches are perfect for relax but live music after sunset is my favorite in Gili Trawangan! I just wished that the club would open later than 1am but i guess that’s the local regulations so i get that.
