Basically Padang is for people who probably finds food hunting their choice of travel. For me, going to Padang was a gateway to Kerinci, for the mountain hike. Padang in itself did not have much sightseeing places to offer but perhaps we did not take the island tours or any waterfall visits. Overall, it's a nice small place to chill and relax.Guest review byBenHo84Malaysia - 10.0

When travelling I prefer to enjoy the place & mix with the people instead of hopping from one place to another spending hours in a car. Eating where they eat & shopping where they shop instead of “touristic” destinations. I walked around from the house to Ngarai Sianok then Jam Gadang. The weather cooperated throughout my stay, but the crowds were packed due to the town 29th anniversary celebrations. Maybe visiting during mid year instead of monsoon & peak holiday seasons will give more time to enjoy the areas. The costs are friendly to the wallet & even small food stalls around the areas are delicious & representing the traditional dishes.Guest review byZaihanor Liza - 8.0

In Taupejat luckily there aren't many tourists yet, the beach not crowded. But the beach and especially the surrounding small islands very butiful, You can snorkel. If you can ride a motorbike, you can explore the whole area. There are not too much dining option, but are enough.Guest review byPéterHungary - 6.0

A big city with little to no immediate tourist interest but serves as a good place to start and end travels. There is good food options but a little difficult for anyone not familar with Padang to access the information. The city have a beautiful but undeveloped waterfront. A friend who is knowledgable says the city is becoming cleaner.Guest review byBali BrooksUnited States - 2.0

Islamic village, they still try to smile on the tourists, but you do not feel it is honest anymore. Some nice resorts in the surrounding islands. Food supply is very poor on the island. For surfing and even for nicer surround is better to go down to Katiet, the other village on the islandGuest review byDanielHungary
