An immaculate room, all new fixtures and fittings, a comfortable, huge bed, a large TV with English satellite channels, great free Wifi. The front desk staff are outstanding as were the concierge, and staff with the welcome drink. Breakfast is a menu choice, I opted for the fresh tropical fruits and Kerala style breakfast, on my first morning the waiter took the time to explain the origins of all the dishes before I made my choice. I enjoyed my breakfast whilst reading my complimentary copy of the India Times. I loved my stay in this hotel and intend to stay with them again.

We stayed at Hotel Thushara, Hawa beach. That is the best place to stay because of the line of restaurants along the beach, the Light House(adds a certain charm at night, must go in daytime). The beach is moderately crowded and one can spend some good time taking a speed boat ride in the sea. The Kovalam beach was not very clean as it is the most crowded of all. The Hawa beach is clean but I think more dustbins and a cleaner environment will help in making this beach more beautiful. Food is good but please be careful where you eat. I had food at Coconut Groove. The food and service was excellent. Hotel Jeevan was pathetic. Not all restaurants serve beer but most of them are pleasant to dine in. Lot of shops for clothes and ornament. Don't shop for the ornaments and bargain whatever you purchase can get it for cheaper price even the vehicle one hires. There is a cultural program held at the end of Hawa beach towards the Light House which can be watched by everyone. Do enjoy the show which reflects the cultural side of Kerala
Spent a week here for a Yoga vacation, kovalam is a friendly place. A bit over the top with street sellers hassling you. Clean Beaches, better to go in the morning for sunbathing than in the afternoon as they became very busy, sea is very rough so not good for swimming. If you want a quieter beach then pop over to where the luxury Leela hotel is and use the beach here, also the sea is calmer so you can swim without a huge wave engulfing you. Recommend a fantastic restaurant called Kerala Cafe, not much to look at but best food ever and very friendly staff, try their mango and cardamon shake with a Kerala Mean Curry and coconut nans, heaven! If you like fresh coconut, there are many stalls selling them. Ask for one which you can drink and also eat.
Kovalam..I loved the people there, so friendly, The sea swept away my sandal and two guys to the rescue. I ate in the main street leading to beach a delightful restaurant overlooking the sea, beautiful coffee not found anywhere else and wonderful smoothies. I would avoid the standing next to the crashing waves!!! Kerala itself is superb to explore mountainous areas and the coastline all wondrous. going again neex 2018 january for more weeks!!!
Kovalam has a lovely beach and out reaching views. The sea is very rough and not safe to swim in. Not much happening in the way of nightlife, this revolves mainly around restaurants and hotels. We stayed for a relaxing week after an intensive tour of North india, 2 weeks would be too long for us unless you were touring Kerala.
Kerala as a region is worthy of a much longer tour (Alleppy, Cochin). Kovalam itself is a bustling tourist orientated spot with a beach front packed with restaurants and hotels. It seems popular with Indian families who are heading to the coast for their holidays or days off. We ate out at several restaurants on the 'strip' and all gave some great examples of local vegetarian and staple Indian dishes. But feel free to try some local 'Family' restaurants in nearby villages or towns. Stick to known Indian staples. Further afield is Trivandrum although the main site, the beautiful ancient temple at the centre, isn't accessible to non hindus. Numerous boat tours into the backwaters and mangrove swamps can be easily booked and again trips can be curated yourself. Everyone in this region is really used to dealing with tourists, albeit perhaps not many tourists from Europe, and eager to help out or provide tours, lifts, meals etc. It's possible to occasionally feel pressured into accepting a drivers random stop at a spice shop, local restaurant or other tourist activities. Everyone is incredibly friendly though so feel free to be thankful but firm if you don't want to do anything. Make good use of the Tuk Tuk's to get you around short distances (up to 20 or 30 minutes). Drivers will wait for you to take you back to your original destination if you ask. Negotiate on the cost and agree up front.
Kovalam should be visited only during the season. Otherwise, most of the restaurants will be closed. Travellers will have to make do with a few places offering mainstream cuisine. I was looking for authentic south Indian food - but was unable to find it. I ended up eating Punjabi food at restaurants. How ironic it is that one cannot get the basic idli, wada & dosa in Kerala.
One can start their kerala trip by coming to trivendrum and stay in any of the hotels in Kovalam which is 15 kms from airport. You can visit anantha padmanabha temple, poovar for canal boat rides and kovalam beach in a day. You will certainly enjoy watching sunrise at kanyakumari if you plan it well and you can cover padmanabhapuram palace enroute. There is hardly any activity you can plan in trivendrum.NOn vegeterians can pay a visit to Hotel Azad for high quality local delicacies.
Kovalam is one of the cleanest and beautiful beaches in India especially the Light House beach. Several specialty seafront restaurants are there offering seafood, indian and continental cuisines, German Bakery,Beatles, Beach Cafe to name a few. One thing I would like to highlight that Trivandrum is little pricey as compared to rest of the Kerala. If in Kovalam one must visit Poovar Island and take a boat ride. The boat takes you through Mangrove forest to the golden sand beach.
I love Kovalam and have returned 3 times. It’s basically a tourist resort for both Indians and international visitors, but offers a really relaxed time with plenty of good food and people watching, as well as Ayurvedic massages on hand. The local people are very friendly and the Keralan food is tasty and great value (especially fish and vegetarian dishes). It’s not a party place - it’s more restaurants than bars, and things wind up by 10pm. So just relax!
Kovalam is a small beach town in Kerala, with very little to do. Stay in a good hotel with sea facing beautiful views and take a stroll on the beach or a dip every now and then. Good for a day or two max. Sea food at restaurants near the beach is a must have, you get to choose from a wide variety of fresh fishes on display and they cook it however you want it! 😋

The hotel was by far our favorite stay on our Kerala tour. The facilities are very well kept. The staff is really friendly. The view from the balcony is stunning. The restaurant was also really good and had a wide selection of different Indian dishes. Munnar and its surrounding tea plantations are a very good contrast to many of the crowded and noisy (yet worth seeing ;-)) places right on the coastline of Kerala. We wanted to extend our stay for another night, however the hotel was fully booked - so better book fast ;-)

If you like to feel how typical Kerala ( & Indian) Culture of living , you must stay here in this hotel . It is not modern concrete and modern buildings. but it is best preserved old building with new touch on facilities. Vegetarian Breakfast is super and Tasts the Coastal /Keral/Karnataka Food style - white coconut Chutney, sambar idli etc. Must recommend for vegetarians family or singles who visit Temple or for Work/business.

Great location, staff was lovely and our room was beautiful (we had the Suite) ! It's the perfect hotel to spend a day or 2 during your trip in Kerala. The hotel arranged for a taxi to pick us up: Sanju. He was so nice and helpful, and in the end we also asked him to drive us to Allepey etc ! He gave us the best tips for the rest of our trip, and taught us a lot about the culture in the region, which made a great difference to our trip!

Staff is extremely helpful, the manager of the hostel used to be a tour guide and he has really valid & insightful tips to give you about traveling around Kerala. I did the backwaters tour & the Kathakali dance show with them, both turned out to be amazing travel experiences. Free drinking water available, which is really helpful. Rooms had A/C, and were regularly cleaned throughout the day. Definitely recommended! :)

This is a small establishment in a beautiful setting that offers unobtrusive but exceptional, personalised service. Food is of a very high standard, an excellent place to sample southern Indian, and in particular Kerala, cuisine. The road trip from the airport is lengthy, but well managed by the hotel and very comfortable. A great location to visit the Kerala backwaters.

A quiet friendly hotel just metres away from the old harbour, Chinese nets and fish market. We stayed in the Tower room, very spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom and balcony overlooking the garden. The staff are lovely, chatty and efficient and the restaurant serves some of the best food we ate in Kerala. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice little hotel, about 30' from Munnar town. Nice and big room, very clean, excellent bathroom. Delicious Indian breakfast. Very helpful and professional staff. Probably the best place to stay on our recent trip to Kerala (and we stayed in 6-7 different homestays/hotels).

We were greeted with delicious home made smoothies! The room was very clean with everything you would need available. We arrived late and were offered some food for dinner, which was amazing. Of all the hotels and hostels we stayed in in Kerala, this was my favorite - by far.

The attitude of Receptionist Laxmi was not so positive, the other girl was good to communicate. My advise is to appoint Kerala girls in kerala Treebo hotels , instead of north indian girls as their attitude towards south people often makes such discomfort.

Niko is a well planned new hotel located in the heart of Kerala's commercial capital. I has laundry facilities, which one can use without any additional cost. The staff are polite and helpful. Provides best value for your money hotel in Cochin.

The apartment room was great. Clean and quiet. Such hotel is not so easy to find in kerala. Surrounding area pretty nice and quiet (despite being close to airport). Walking about 500m to the right are quite a few restaurants.

We felt completely relaxed as soon as we arrived. The Indian cuisine was excellent. The hotel is an authentic colonial type style - nothing Disney here! If we were returning to Kerala we would stay here again.
