FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 75 reviewsStaying at Casa Angelina is a very special experience. Everything about the hotel is world class. The location and view from the rooms is one of the best in Europe, in fact, the world. The staff are available, friendly and willing to respond immediately to any request. The range and quality of the food at breakfast, and in the casual dining restaurant was excellent. We did not use the fine-dining restaurant. The rooms were immaculate, the toiletries supplied top quality and to your choice. Housekeeping was attentive. I think the room received attention 4 times a day. When your eyes take a break from the spectacular view, the hotel boasts a wonderful collection of whimsical sculptures. We used the complimentary valet parking and the car was returned to us having been washed and valeted inside. If only the car hire people had taken the same effort before I picked it up. Oh, and they have a gelato cart in the driveway. The hotel is expensive (although not the most expensive in the area) but we did not regret a penny spent at this fabulous haven.Guest review byRobertUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 93 reviewsTime at the monastero is everything you might expect for a 5 star resort experience with some notable distinctions. Amazing attention to detail and systems of management, result in a sense of tranquility which is hugely amplified by the monastery setting. This really can't be overstated. The peaceful environment they create here is quite precious. Secondly, having a limited number guests (20), means that there is a sense of privacy missing from some resorts or hotels. Thirdly, the views are literally some of the best photos from our trip. Fourthly, the generosity and warmth of the staff in every area is 100% consistent. A great credit to management. Loved our stay. Obviously not an every holiday option, but a special stay that will be remembered for a very long time.Guest review byMatthew CostaAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 124 reviewsThis hotel exceeds expectations. From the kind and informative staff to the phenomenal food and gorgeous views you cannot go wrong by booking this hotel. The actual hotel is gorgeous, the views spectacular. I was worried because I knew the hotel isn’t in Positano center, but ended up being a blessing. They will drive you to the center, the ride takes 3 minutes, when you call to have them pick you up they arrive in 5 minutes or less and the best part is you get away from the crowds of the main town to an oasis on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast. Couldn’t recommend more, felt lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here!!Guest review byBrekkeUnited States

Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace.
Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace. Friendly people. Gets overrun by tourists, even October. Lots of hills and steps, and taxi’s are a flat rate of 35 euros, adds up fast. Better to walk and avoid traffic jams. La Pergola on the beach for pizza, also for spaghetti and clams. Ohima for great vibes and good food. Il Pallazo for special evening. Ferries to visit Amalfi and Ravello. See Capri and ride the chairlift. Relax and have fun.Guest review byAndreaUnited States - 10.0

Maiori is lovely, spread out and calm. There are plenty of shops to poke about in and even more restaurants and gelato places to sample. We loved the cleanliness and safety of the sidewalks. It felt spacious.Guest review bySandraCanada - 10.0

Ravello is fantastic. So quiet - much preferable to Amalfi. Steep. Lots of walking. A lovely village by night with some great food. Mimis is just a fantastic restaurant with excellent an menu and wonderful staff. The meals are amazing! Several small shops which have all required if self catering. Walk the back streets. Such a photogenic town. Really pleasant in evenings when many return to Amalfi or to ferries.Guest review byJezAustralia - 8.0
Agerola provides an escape from the tourist busy towns on...
Agerola provides an escape from the tourist busy towns on the Amalfi coast. It is higher in elevation than the towns of Amalfi, Positano and Maiori. These towns are port towns and in the busy travel months are always full of tourists. However, there is more to do in these towns than in Agerola, and if you plan to only stay in one of those towns, only go between 2 close towns, spend your vacation time on the beach, then I would recommend to stay in one of the coast towns. If you want a more central point to all of these and other towns (ex. Sorrento, Ravello, etc...) and plan to travel each day to a new town and a quiet place to rest at night, then Agerola is a great place to stay. If you stay in Agerola and since the roads are one lane both ways, you have to factor in travel times to all other towns (in case you need to catch a ferry, have dinner reservations, etc...).Guest review byHarryUnited States - 8.0

Lots of ceramic shops selling almost the same items. many good restaurants within walking distance. Arrive by train then take the accensore (elevator) down to the town - the lift-well is lined with blue tiles and fish. Gorgeous. The ferry stops down at the bay and bus 68 takes you up to the town for 1.4euro. Buy the ticket from the ladies in the ceramic shop near the bus stop before you board and validate on the bus.Guest review byPamelaAustralia - 8.0

Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi Coast.
Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi Coast. Half an hour driving to Amalfi, half an hour driving to Positano. For hiking the "Path of gods" you start immediately at the residence. For getting to the "Fiordo" you descend the one thousand stairs just below the apartment. Small market shop and minimarket just near by. Also very good restaurants just near the house.
