FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 335 reviewsI love every minute of staying in this hotel. I see lots of hotel in my life and even work in 5 star properties. But this hotel is a true gem, it’s the place where you want to come again and bring all your family and friends just to share that amazing experience with the loved ones. It’s the type of hotel where people come in generations with rich history but feels very modern. Food was a true Italian masterpiece, breakfast exceptional, everything was so delicious. The beach and the way to water so cinematic. The room cleaning and amenities are on high level of standard. The people who work there are truly love this hotel and make the every way possible for you to feel welcome and happy and 0 stress. After living in a big city this hotel tells like I connecting to nature and myself again. We take a short trip to Positano 15 minutes on water taxi which is just an amazing way to see the stunning views from water. Thank you to each and everyone who make this hotel operate and be such a dream place to stay.Guest review byMariiaUkraine
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 690 reviewsHotel Raito was proved an excellent choice for our vacation. Views from the hotel were breathtaking, absolutely incredible. Our hotel room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfasts were very good and the amount ample to start a day of explorations. Lunch and dinner service was also superior. Preparation was excellent. Strongly recommend! I especially appreciate the kind and professional service of Restaurant Manager Sansone Giovanni, as well as Marco. To make your stay perfect in every way you must include a visit to the hotel’s SPA. SPA Manager Dominga has created an incredible, relaxing environment to make every guest feel special. From a wide range of massages, choices of organic teas, to the incredible lounge Sea views. Once again, thank you Dominga for making our SPA experience perfect in every way! Finally, as a world traveler, I strongly recommend Hotel Raito and definitely will come back.Guest review byElenaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 93 reviewsTime at the monastero is everything you might expect for a 5 star resort experience with some notable distinctions. Amazing attention to detail and systems of management, result in a sense of tranquility which is hugely amplified by the monastery setting. This really can't be overstated. The peaceful environment they create here is quite precious. Secondly, having a limited number guests (20), means that there is a sense of privacy missing from some resorts or hotels. Thirdly, the views are literally some of the best photos from our trip. Fourthly, the generosity and warmth of the staff in every area is 100% consistent. A great credit to management. Loved our stay. Obviously not an every holiday option, but a special stay that will be remembered for a very long time.Guest review byMatthew CostaAustralia

The staff is super friendly, and the room was spacious and clean. On top of that, the breakfast buffet on the terrace with a sea view was excellent. I will definitely stay there again if I come back to Positano.Guest review byFredFromShanghaiSwitzerland

Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace.
Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace. Friendly people. Gets overrun by tourists, even October. Lots of hills and steps, and taxi’s are a flat rate of 35 euros, adds up fast. Better to walk and avoid traffic jams. La Pergola on the beach for pizza, also for spaghetti and clams. Ohima for great vibes and good food. Il Pallazo for special evening. Ferries to visit Amalfi and Ravello. See Capri and ride the chairlift. Relax and have fun.Guest review byAndreaUnited States - 10.0

Ravello is fantastic. So quiet - much preferable to Amalfi. Steep. Lots of walking. A lovely village by night with some great food. Mimis is just a fantastic restaurant with excellent an menu and wonderful staff. The meals are amazing! Several small shops which have all required if self catering. Walk the back streets. Such a photogenic town. Really pleasant in evenings when many return to Amalfi or to ferries.Guest review byJezAustralia - 8.0
Agerola provides an escape from the tourist busy towns on...
Agerola provides an escape from the tourist busy towns on the Amalfi coast. It is higher in elevation than the towns of Amalfi, Positano and Maiori. These towns are port towns and in the busy travel months are always full of tourists. However, there is more to do in these towns than in Agerola, and if you plan to only stay in one of those towns, only go between 2 close towns, spend your vacation time on the beach, then I would recommend to stay in one of the coast towns. If you want a more central point to all of these and other towns (ex. Sorrento, Ravello, etc...) and plan to travel each day to a new town and a quiet place to rest at night, then Agerola is a great place to stay. If you stay in Agerola and since the roads are one lane both ways, you have to factor in travel times to all other towns (in case you need to catch a ferry, have dinner reservations, etc...).Guest review byHarryUnited States - 8.0

Lots of ceramic shops selling almost the same items. many good restaurants within walking distance. Arrive by train then take the accensore (elevator) down to the town - the lift-well is lined with blue tiles and fish. Gorgeous. The ferry stops down at the bay and bus 68 takes you up to the town for 1.4euro. Buy the ticket from the ladies in the ceramic shop near the bus stop before you board and validate on the bus.Guest review byPamelaAustralia - 6.0
Praiano is a great location to stay in the Amalfi coast for...
Praiano is a great location to stay in the Amalfi coast for viewing spectacular sunrises & sunsets, and if you want to avoid the crazy crowds in Amalfi & Positano as it is sandwiched between these two major tourist destinations in the Amalfi Coast. It is much cheaper to stay in Praiano, but relying on Public transportation is a real hardship if you don’t have a car or bike/scooter. For that reason, Maiori and Minori are much better locations that provide the same calm, affordability and easy access as Praiano. There are also some very restaurants in these 3 towns.Guest review byPrakashUnited States - 10.0
This is a great place to stay on the Amalfi Coast.
This is a great place to stay on the Amalfi Coast. Everything is close by, and there are far fewer tourists than in Amalfi. Prices are also much lower. It's easy to get there by bus or ferry from Salerno.Guest review byTomaszPoland - 10.0
Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi Coast.
Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi Coast. Half an hour driving to Amalfi, half an hour driving to Positano. For hiking the "Path of gods" you start immediately at the residence. For getting to the "Fiordo" you descend the one thousand stairs just below the apartment. Small market shop and minimarket just near by. Also very good restaurants just near the house. Peaceful and quiet—perfect for a relaxing vacation. There are plenty of good restaurants and enough markets for everyday needs. The area also offers great historical sites to explore, along with the beautiful Valle delle Ferriere nature park nearby. A convenient bus stop with frequent service makes it easy to get around the area without a car.Guest review byNemanjaSerbia
