On my first night, after returning from dinner in Gerace, I found the hostesses family outdoors enjoying the evening on their lovely patio. I sat down with them and we talked for an hour and had a grappa and great conversation. That night I found that my bed was the most comfortable that I have slept in in all of my time in Italy. The next morning I had a wonderful breakfast on the terrace enjoying the Bella Vista, which overlooks the coastal towns + the Sea. We stayed in the Villa, a separate unit with 2 bedrooms and fully stocked kitchen nestled between an orange and olive grove. Roberto, a son, speaks excellent English and is a first rate cook and Dominic the patriarch is very proud and generous with the produce of the farm. My paternal grandfather's parents came from Cittanova, so I was interested to see my ancestral homeland. Everyone in the city was extremely nice. The food was great and the cost of everything was very reasonable. Most of the residents spoke very little English.
