Kind of "Old style hotel", which cares about their guests. * Very delicious food in evening (half board very recommended) * Very nice and careful staff (esp. restaurant) * Room was clean and well prepared * Quite nights, even as we had the room nearby the street * Very interesting view to the harbor and sea (especially if you travel with kids) * good connection to public transportation (bus to Salerno and other locations at Amalfi coast stops in front of hotel - recommendation is to travel to that area by train (Salerno) without any car * nice walk in the evening to Vietri

We only spent one night there between our day trip to Pompeii from Amalfi and our flight out of Naples the next day. It was a very different vibe from Amalfi and I do not know if I will use it outside of flying again. Was much dirtier in comparison, definitely very city-with-litter and loud noise all throughout the night. (mostly yelling and scooters). Maybe we did not get the chance to see enough because we were only there for one night but it was a bit of a rude awakening after our beautiful time elsewhere in Italy.

Sorrento is very easy to navigate, as there is one main tourist street right through the middle, with lots of other, smaller side streets leading off it to explore. Half way down this street is the main Piasso Tasso, the main square. At one end are both the bus and train station, where you can travel on to Pompeii, Vesuvius, Amalfi etc. without having to be fleeced by the tour companies. It's much more fun to do as the locals would! The two ports - Marina Piccolo and Marina grande - everything is within easy walking distance, but some steep clicks to climb coming back up, as you would expect in this rugged, stunning coastline. If you don't like crowds, bizz and bustle of tourist towns, then Sorrento isn't for you and it's more pricey than in UK for drinks and food. But there are some really lovely restaurants, artisan shops and quieter areas available if you care to look. And it's a great central spot for the biggies, such as Pompeii, Vesuvius, Capri, Positano and Amalfi, to name but a few iconic locations - all with the Italian suave and delicate shades that we know and love. Just a pity we tourists have to spoil them!

Ischia is a great island for vacation - there are many sandy beaches, spectacular views, a lot of greenery and of course delicious food. It is not difficult to go around the island by car. The roads are narrow and with many turns, and many people are driving motorbikes which makes driving difficult but you can survive:) People are very friendly and calm. The food is amazing, especially pasta in any form! The island is easy to reach - the are ferries from Naples, about an hour from there. Highly recommend Ischia to visit!

The old town of Salerno is well worth exploring with cobbled streets and hidden passageways. Excellent food options. There’s a nice wide pedestrian promenade along the Marina to walk up to old town. The port has ferries to take trips to the Amalfi coast. We went to Amalfi and got the bus up to Ravello (on our host’s recommendation). Make sure you buy your bus ticket before catching the bus. Ravello is stunning - up high with views along the coast.

Capri is great to explore via taxi, get up early and head up to Ana Capri, less traffic more intimate area. The chair lift is a must to the top of the mountain, and lunch up top of the mountain is amazing. Capri is nice in the evenings to walk around and shop with plenty of places to get cocktails, and explore.

Amalfi is a small and charming town with beautiful architecture and a lovely atmosphere. However, since it’s the central town of the entire Amalfi Coast, it tends to get very crowded — which unfortunately takes away some of its charm. That said, it’s still worth a visit, especially to admire its history and beauty. But I highly recommend exploring the nearby towns as well — like Positano, Atrani, Maiori, Minori, and others — each of them has its own unique character and is often much more peaceful and authentic.

Transport links, especially the trains were cheap and easy to find and allowed easy travel to Salerno, Sorrento and Herculaneum. Pompeii archeological site was only a 10 minute walk from our B&B and was a great experience. The train to Salerno was only €2.50 and a short walk took you to the harbour where we took a boat trip to Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. The train back to pompei was busy but only took half an hour and again was around €2.50. Unforgettable experience

Caserta is a pleasant ordinary town. The Royal Palce is jaw dropping and it is a 8E return train ride from Naples. With a car, there are many fantastic Roman sites and a spectacular coastline within 30k. The town has quite a number of excellent Pizza restaurants, all competitively priced.

Anacapri is way quieter than Capri.

Anacapri is way quieter than Capri. I see that as a good thing. Anacapri gets busy during the day with all the day trippers... Thanks to the gondola, Blue grotto etc. But once they leave... that's when Anacapri shines. We loved the quiet evenings, the amazing sunsets, the now empty swimming holes... Loved it!
