Hotel Villa Aurora is situated on Lake Como with easy access into the inviting warm water. We visited in June, it was busy but not overcrowded. Check-in was effortless due to the wonderful friendly welcome by reception staff. The restaurant had a picturesque view over the lake and all meals were amazing and delicious (of the highest standard). Restaurant and bar staff were attentive and friendly, delivering us with exceptional service. We made use of all their facilities - wake-boarding, kayaking and hiring a boat. Bellagio is the most beautiful town on Lake Como! Many great restaurants and shopping. Great views of the lake. Ferry terminal that provides easy access to Ferry system. Now, having said that, the town is relatively small, so 2-3 days in Bellagio would be enough to explore just this town. If you are planning on exlporing the other towns on the Lake ( which you absolutely sbould do) Bellagio is a great "center" for that activity and then you should extend to 4-5 days. Lecco is in the south part of Lake Como, but from almost all the cities that we look around the Lake, apart from Bellagio, Lecco is the most picturesque because the mountains chain in the Background. Is simply breathtaking. The city itself has nice restaurants, stores and the walk around the lake is fantastic. Is served from a Train station the reaches Milan and the airports in few times, make it easy to depart and come from overseas. I’d definetly book this place again, great views. It was fairly easy to get to and from, bit of a long journey but didn’t mind. The staff were great and the other people staying were nice to very international and friendly oh and I loved seeing peoples dogs but I’m not sure if they were staying there? It's a cute town with some lovely restaurants and easy enough to walk around for someone of average fitness. However if your purpose is to explore most of Lake Como, you will be limited to the slow ferry up to Bellagio / Varenna / Menaggio which takes 2-3hours. We had originally booked to stay in Varenna but cancelled due to works on the train line to get there. It still would have been a better option, or just staying in Como town to access the fast ferry.
