The staff was very kind and even greeted us around town, the room was very well kept and clean and most importantly very homey. We felt right at home! The breakfast was also excellent, with a small buffet of cakes and desserts and a menu of various dishes, both savory and sweet, all very well-made and in generous amounts. Breakfast was also served in a truly wonderful terrace full of lemon trees which made the experience even more beautiful. The free beach was also a 5-minute walk away and we could always find a space for two towels in the afternoon, which meant that when coming back from exploring the other places we could always put on our swimming suits and go snorkeling (very recommended since the water is crystal clear and full of small fish). We could also borrow their beach towels which was very useful. The way from the train station was a bit uphill (although the whole town is full of ups and downs) but overall pretty quick and full of restaurants and souvenir shops which can come in very handy. We definitely recommend the affiliated restaurant "Da Eraldo" for some good quality fish and seafood and "L'Osteria" for some good local food; the staff of both of these was also very friendly and very willing to make some small talk. We also recommend the trekking trail "Sentiero Azzurro" but be aware that there are some pretty long uphill stairways so start early in the morning if you're planning to go there in summer. Overall our stay was wonderful and there were no complications, truly a wonderful place to spend a couple of days!

Monterosso’s spirited historical centre overflows with restaurants and cafés. Take a walk along the sea promenade with some Italian Gelato ice-cream.

Known for wines right out of its own vineyards, this picturesque village is perched high above the Ligurian Sea. The scenic Sentiero Azzurro hiking trail also begins here.

The colourful sun-soaked village of Vernazza

This charming hamlet invites you to stroll around its centre and sun tan on its modest beach. The fortress is a unique lookout point for panoramic views of coastal storms.

Corniglia and its hidden gem

Set atop a 100-metre-high promontory, Corniglia offers breathtaking views of the Cinque Terre National Park. Navigate the steep path to reach the hidden gem of Gùvano Beach.

Manarola's fresh catch

The market buzzes with life at the port off Manarola Street, with friendly chatter and haggling. Fishmongers peddle a variety of seafood, freshly caught by local fishermen.

Hiking in the vineyards of Cinque Terre National Park

This UNESCO-listed site celebrates harmonious teamwork between nature and humans in preserving a beautiful cultural landscape. The terraced vineyards make scenic hiking trails.

FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre

Cliff-Hugging Beauty

One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.

Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.

The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.

Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.

The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

I cannot begin to explain how amazing my stay here was. Everything from staff, to room, to the cleanliness of the entire hotel, to the location, the views, the breakfast were excellent! I don’t write reviews often, or at all. I also did not want to write this one to gate keep this property😅 But they deserve the recognition. Book it with your eyes closed.

Loved being in Levanto! Easy access to Cinque Terre but away from the hoards of tourists. The property is right in the heart of Levants and the bikes they provide are an added benefit—try the ride through the old train tunnels to the next two towns. Close to the beach and lots of restaurants. Friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff.

Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.
