Beautiful big room with big double bed and 2 additional sofa beds, comfortable, room big and clean, TV, small mini bar, big wardrobe area. Two small balconies make a very romantic atmosphere. Our room was on the mountain view side, and i loved it. Fresh breeze in the morning and very calm. Big bathroom with separate bath and shower. A beautiful city destroyed by graffiti and buildings and infrastructure that needed a proper hose down. Virtually every wall had graffiti damage, the streets were covered with cigarette butts and overall cleanliness left plenty to be desired.Guest review byTabarrokUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

Stresa is a beautiful town on the Lake with great history. The beautiful mountains and islands are magnificent. Even with many tourists, the Italian traditions are very much alive. A quiet spectacular place.Guest review byLauraUnited States - 10.0
Verbania is a really good base for a stay on Lake Maggiore.
Verbania is a really good base for a stay on Lake Maggiore. It has 2 parts - Intra where the main ports are, and Pallanza. There are lots of boats leaving and arriving every day at Intra, both passenger-only and ferries with cars, so very useful for exploring other parts of the lake. Intra has a nice sea front and an old town with little courtyards and cafes dotted all over it. The highlight of Pallanza is Villa Taranto, the botanic gardens. Well worth a visit.Guest review byLenoraUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Baveno is a town of human scale.
Baveno is a town of human scale. It's position on the lake in the Borromean gulf means the it is very well connected with ferries. At the time I visited (September) Ferries run around the sights of the lake centre every half hour, and twice a week they run up to Locarno and Ascona in Switzerland (well worth a look. The lake navigation company don't advertise it but they do a week holiday pass which is good for unlimited journeys over the entire length of the lake for 95 Euro per week. If you are going to be getting around by ferry predominantly, this is outstanding value. For comparison, on Lake lucerne and Lake Geneva, the ferry company charge 90 Euros per day for an open pass. Baveno doesn't overplay the tourist card in terms or pricing. An espresso can be had for 1.30 Euro, a Cappucino for 2.50 Euro. The town is well served by Uber (who are more reliable than the local taxi firms I dealt with, and considerably lower cost). Don't miss the Borromeo islands (and Villas) or the botanical garden at Villa Taranto. If you have a head for heights try the bucket lift (Funivia) at Laveno for some great views over the lake. Look out also for Sunday Lunchtime music (chamber music or soft jazz generally) in towns around the lake and modern art exhibitions at Villa Giulia in Pallanza. An exhibition of work by Ugo Nespolo was incredibly good, and the ticket also gives access to Museo Paesaggio with some interesting bronzes and landscapes On the northern shores of the lake, Cannobio is a lovely little town, well worth a visit. and Cannero is a (better?) alternative to Luino on Market days. On the Swiss lakeshore, personally I prefer Ascona to Locarno, principally because of size and a more Italian vibe but both are worth visiting.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I have been going to Cannobio for nearly thirty years it is a little gem on Lago Maggiore and is the essence if an Italian town. There are not many English or UK tourists, which makes it good to practise Italian. It sits on the lake with an amazing Sunday market and emits a feeling of comfort and home for me I should say its horrible to keep it a little secret but it is a great place to visit with amazing restaurants and good quality food with prices for all budgets and campsites tooGuest review byLouiseUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We arrived by train at a beautiful but mostly abandoned train station (unfortunate because it is a beauty!!) Town is on a surfboard-shaped plateau with beautiful bridges that access it by car or train. I did a walk around the whole plateau and was awe-struck by the beautiful old buildings and surrounding valleys. Plenty of coffee shops and cafes/restaurants if you don't want to eat at your hotel. So glad to have made the overnight stop here on our way from Turin to Menton by train.Guest review byLelandCanada - 10.0
First time visiting Domodossola.
First time visiting Domodossola. We used it as a base for heading out on hikes and we took the "Centovalli" train to Locarno in Switzerland. The centre of the old town is really charming. It is a peaceful town, not a lot of tourists. We found it very restful. Have heard that it is really beautiful in the autumn as well so we are considering going back. There are also a lot of very nice small towns and villages in easy driving distance, not to mention a number of lakes (including Lago Maggiore).Guest review byCas29Italy - 8.0

We wanted a smaller, quieter town with some historic interest and Asti was exactly that. We thoroughly enjoyed being there. We spent two days investigating Asti and its museums, which was about right. The station also gave easy access for a day in Genoa.Guest review byAlan BrowneUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I was staying in Alessandria as a base to attend a wedding in a nearby town, so did not really do justice to visit all the possible sights. It seems a city with much cultural heritage including the cathedral and many churches. I had a great pizza meal at Ricci Le Nostre Pizza which was good value and I enjoyed it so much I went back there on my last night. Avoid evening walks by the river if you wan’t to avoid being bitten by midges!Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom
