Elena’s property was stellar! If I could give her 100 stars, I would! Elena was a wonderful host; she met us, told us where to park and took us to our apartment. Our room had two windows; one overlooked the quaint street, and the other a beautiful view of the mountains. The bed was very comfortable, and the apartment itself was a perfect size for my husband and me. Each morning, we went down one flight of stairs to the kitchen where Antonella was waiting to pamper us with coffee, cappuccino, cornetto, juice, and granola. Besides the Bed & Breakfast, Elena has a restaurant called Rupp Diun. All I can say is W.O.W! We told Elena our food preferences, (I am a vegetarian, for example), and she totally customized the meal that she prepared. Elena has a gift for making you feel like family. We ate at Rupp Diun multiple times because when the food is that good, why go anywhere else! It was fun to meet Elena's family and friends throughout our stay! Full disclosure: my grandmother was born in Colobraro in 1897, and I am on a mission to find out anything I can about my Italian roots. I probably would not have visited Colobraro if not for my grandmother, but what a shame that would have been. Elena and her friend Maria were extremely helpful in guiding me with my search. This beautiful, welcoming hill-top town with the most charming people should be on the bucket list of those that are looking to immerse themselves in Italian culture and history. I hope I am lucky enough to be able to make my way back to this charming city that is filled with townspeople that welcome you with enthusiasm and pride that leaves you with a longing to return. I had a wonderful and relaxing visit to Laino Borgo. Palias is a lovely family hotel. I had a balcony where I could hear the river Loa and overlook the town. The mountains and river are definitely where to go to stay cool and relaxed in the middle of summer. I enjoyed delicious coffee and pastries for breakfast and had two excellent dinners. I can’t decide If I liked the cod or the gnocchi better! I finished dinner with this amazing pistachio gelato! The host went out of his way to help me and guide me to interesting local spots. He was above and beyond kind, patient, and generous. I can’t wait to tell other New Yorkers about this get away!

The hosts were absolutely wonderful. This was a highlight of our stay. The place was a beautiful villa which had been converted, fabulously, into an inn. Our room was spacious and lovely, with wonderful views. We had dinner and breakfast both days that we were there. Amazing food sourced locally, delicious!

We arrived late in the evening and got a very warm greeting. We stayed overnight and left the next morning. Breakfast was very good. Kids loved it very much. Local restaurant that work until very late have delicious food prepared from a fresh home grown products. I had the most incredible experience at this mountain hotel! It's an oasis of tranquility, far from the city noise. Staying in a 300-year-old house was like stepping back in time. The authenticity of the atmosphere made me feel like I was living in a bygone era. It was a truly magical escape! I regret I bought only one bottle of local red wine to take with me.

The property is beautiful and so well maintained. Orange trees and olive trees in abundance as was the fresh squeezed orange juice! Homemade and delicious breakfast each morning, served alfresco by gracious hosts Rita and Nicola. And fresh lemonade in the afternoon after a long, hot day! Our room was comfortable and very clean and the view was bellisima!

We enjoyed our stay with Annalisa, who was very warm and welcoming. We were comfortable at her B&B and liked the breakfast a lot. Home-grown strawberries and handmade jam, among other temptations. Beautiful countryside and very close to town for a good dinner.

They went out of their way to help us. When we arrived unprepared for no local food they accommodated our needs. They don’t provide dinners but they did that night for us. They saved us from a hungry night. We really appreciated that gesture on their part.

Morano Calabro is a gorgeous old town. Very pittoresque. The pretty pictures found on the internet cannot capture the real beauty of this place and its authentic and relaxed atmosphere. The people are also very friendly. Unless you like touristy places, this unspoiled place represents Italy at its best. The area is very mountainous and a hiker's paradise. Restaurants serve excellent food and at a very low price.

A beautiful place nestled among the mountains.

A beautiful place nestled among the mountains. We went on a breathtaking 15km hike and white water rafting in the Pollino National Park. We would recommend both. There are way more options for food than we expected, however there are not many English speaking people/staff around but we managed! The weather was much cooler there than other places in Southern Italy in Summer, particularly in the National Park.

The diffuso concept is atypical so be ready for the room, breakfast, check-in, gym to all be in different places in the city. Each of these areas we used was wonderful, But our room was a bit of a walk from the check-in area. It happened to be that the walk was worth the location of our room. The room was large and clean and we had full control of heat and air. Everything very, very comfortable and clean and new.

A last minute decision to stop a night here had us not wanting to leave, mainly because of the beautiful accommodation, food and people. We made the most of our short time here and walked down to the historic bridge ( devils bridge) amazing scenery and it was very peacful only us on the road and tracks. The town had a selection of restaurtants and we found a lovely spot to enjoy a beautiful meal and a fabulous bottle of wine. We wished we had more time to stay in Civiita however we had connections to make so moved on. I highly recommend visiting and staying at least 2 or 3 days and if you have a car exploring the area.

Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking.

Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking. We wanted to be in nature in an antico borgo but nothing in Viggianello seemed to be open other than 1 x tiny bar, the pharmacy and 1 x local shop. Rotonda is very attractive indeed and extremely friendly - we spent all of our non-hiking time in this locale. There are even 2 x museums.

We didn't see much to be honest - the town is an hour from Pompeii - so a great stop after being or going to this famous historic archaeological site. Well worth a relaxing morning or afternoon walk. there are a few exciting things to do but we were en-route. However, the very narrow roads are exciting in themselves!

We strongly recommend Morano Calabro to any travelers who enjoy the ambiance of old village communities. The old Town in Morano Calabro is alive with friendly residents, little shops, local butcher, hair salons etc. We fell in love with the place. You can take the narrow twisty road to the Castello on the top of the hill but we enjoyed the walk. Enjoyed a 5 star lunch at restaurant L'Antico Borgo.

Morano Calabro is a very simple mountain village with steep roads and stairways leading to the Norman Castle at the top of the hill. The surrounding environment is spectacular especially the Pollino National Park. The church and abbey of San Bernadino is highly recommended.
