Amazing value for money. Modern interior, clean room, friendly staff and private underground parking. On top of all that the place is dog friendly. For my personal needs this checks all the boxes. There is a coffe machine in the room for an espresso in the morning and a tea kettle. Additionally a tap and glass bottle to refill free filtered cold water in the hallway. (even sparkling) Check in/check out was quick and easy.

The room at Hotel San Michele was a delightful retreat after a day of exploration. Tastefully decorated with a touch of Mediterranean flair, it exuded comfort and style. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The attention to detail, from the local artwork to the cozy furnishings, made me feel right at home. Overall, Hotel San Michele in Trapani left a lasting impression on me. The view was just breathtaking as well as the hotel itself. It is right next to the archeological park and everything was just like taken out of a dream. The staff was amazing and available at any time. If you can, choose the rooms with a view of the temples as you won't regret it, if you don't you might. Also, breakfast at the hotel was outstanding.

FAQs about hotels in Sicily

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.

Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.

Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

The resort is situated in a beautiful location with volcanoe , Mt Etna always in one’s view. The hotel and golf course are worth the some what stressful drive up to it’s location. Hotel staff were professional, friendly, and caring to guests needs. Food was delicious with reasonable rates. Room with a breathe taking view of a plush vineyard. Ok the golf course. Great staff. Course is in great shape. Greens hard and fast. Fairways mostly narrow bordered by old in bloom leaves. Very little water. Only issue of concern was that fact of two free roaming dogs which I saw running on the back nine. Golf staff assured me both friendly farm dogs. I highly recommend the hotel and golf course.

Everything. The hotel is STUNNING. The private beach is a must and even if the hotel is the best in the area, it doesn’t feel crowded or busy. They are kind enough to have a shuttle bus to the city that goes there several times a day (and yes, the city is extremely crowded thanks to the White Lotus fame). This hotel is an oasis of tranquility.

Fantastic city, tons of history and architecture to see, feel and go around. This has to be a better city for history than most (I liked it better than Rome). Very chaotic and busy, don't expect tidiness or litter free environments. Feels very friendly once you get used to the hustle and bustle. Only thing that lets it down is the rubbish everywhere

Catania can come off to some as being unrefined and gritty due to the great amount of grafitti present. . In my opinion, I find Catania real and authenic with much to see and do and enjoy. Having traveled extensively throughout Italy, I can truly say Catania manifests its own magical beauty which makes it truly a " must see " city in Italy

Trapani was a bit of a disappointment.

Trapani was a bit of a disappointment. Especially if you're trying to compare it to Noto, Ragusa, and Modica, for example. That comparison isn't really possible/shouldn't be made. If you're coming from Agrigento, continue on to Castellammare del Golfo. And on the way there, be sure to visit Erice. It's truly beautiful little place on a mountain. And the views are stunning, too.

Beautiful town, full of life at night. Easily walkable, flat streets. Beach is nice and long, with multiple free areas. It's a gorgeous scene with the huge mountains, and lighthouse at the other end. It is definitely more of a touristy feel, as we went in August. Definitely explore up and down the peninsula, as there's excellent beaches and coves to swim at as well!

Ragusa has good infrastructure for a holiday - insofar as there are cafés and restaurants at various price points and plenty of baroque buildings, particularly in Ibla, that make it a very attractive place to stay (this was our second visit). It is handily placed for day trips to the other cities of Southern Baroque Sicily (Scicli, Modica, Noto and Syracusa) but it should be remembered that Sicily is a huge island and therefore Ragusa is by no means a convenient jumping off point for cities in the North (Taormina, Palermo etc.) The island has so much to commend it that it would be daft to try and tick everything off during a single visit in any case. Don't set targets, slow down and enjoy.
