Everything. Staff at the reception absolutely outstanding, very helpful and with a lot of good advise (go to the Antichi Sapori restaurant!). We liked the spacious room and the bathroom and we had an excellent quiet breakfast. The hotel is located next to a parking place (you pay a few cents per hour) and at the very beginning of Trapani old town centre. We went to see the pool: beautifully located on the top roof, but the weather was unfortunately not the best. Full of things to do around, including the visit to the salt pans and Marsala tasting and a stroll in the old centre of Trapani

FAQs about hotels in Sicily

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.

Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.

Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

The resort is situated in a beautiful location with volcanoe , Mt Etna always in one’s view. The hotel and golf course are worth the some what stressful drive up to it’s location. Hotel staff were professional, friendly, and caring to guests needs. Food was delicious with reasonable rates. Room with a breathe taking view of a plush vineyard. Ok the golf course. Great staff. Course is in great shape. Greens hard and fast. Fairways mostly narrow bordered by old in bloom leaves. Very little water. Only issue of concern was that fact of two free roaming dogs which I saw running on the back nine. Golf staff assured me both friendly farm dogs. I highly recommend the hotel and golf course.

The two good things about the hotel are the beach and the entertainment team. The beach is amazing, almost private, clean and with a lot of space to swim. The entertainment team was amazing. The hotel has a lot of activities during the day on the beach, the pool and shows later during the evening The food at the theme restaurants were good.

2 days in Catania were just enough, unless you start visiting the places around the town. The city is very interesting , from the history point of view, but unfortunately most of its beautiful architecture is in a dire need of renovation+ streets are dirty - almost everywhere. Tour guides and stuff in restaurants are very nice, just be prepared that their 10 minutes is about 3 times longer than on your clock or more:-)

Agrigento is a compact town so getting around is easy.

Agrigento is a compact town so getting around is easy. It's pretty quiet (October) and mainly filled with locals. The Old Town is picturesque. There were still plenty of restaurants open. My primary purpose in going to Agrigento was to see the Valley of the Temples which I would recommend as it a unique site and worth a visit. The local buses are inexpensive and can get you around. Taxis for the rest. I did speak with folk who raved about La Scala dei Turchi (Turkish Steps). Given another day I would have definitely visited as it is reminiscent of the salt cliffs/steps in Turkey. Apparently the other beaches near Agrigento are also good. I'm not a beach person though I do like the coast. To sum up Agrigento is worth a day preferably two if going around Sicily or longer if you're a beach lover. There are an abundance of places to eat

Cefalu is a very unique place with its cobbleston streets...

Cefalu is a very unique place with its cobbleston streets and more stairs than I've ever seen in any European town. If you have bad knees, be sure to stay on the street level as most places go up, up, up! We visited in early December and many of the shops and restaurants were closed during the day but might open briefly in the evening. We never could figure out any sort of schedule. I had read about this being a thing in Italy and with 4+ visits in multiple places, this is the only place I've witnessed it. It is no myth! Still, we didn't go hungry and loved just walking around and taking photos of this beautiful town. The trees were full of fruit (looked like tangerines but had a bitter taste so not sure what that was about), lots of evergreen foliage on the mountain and potted plants throughout the town. We hiked up the mountain, attended mass, and visited the place where they used to do laundry in the Cefalu river long ago. We even peeked into a play. We got there too late to attend but were able to go in after and see it. Lots to see in this town, but it's laid back and you don't need but a few days to see it all. However, you may not want to leave! Look for concerts and productions at the theatre when you arrive so you don't miss that opportunity! A truly magical place.

Modica is a very old town on South-east Sicily, quite important for her history and baroque architecture. Getting around is easy, if you like to walk a lot! There are a lot of stairs and climbings to get to Modica Alta, but it's worth. Food is very good and there are still restaurants with good prices. From Modica you can reach the beach in half an hour by car, and you can also visit several good natural spots (like Riserva Naturale di Pantalica, Cavagrande, Vendicari) just driving one/two hours. Good craftwork as well, especially ceramics.
