Iglesias is a great location as a base camp to travel to Porto Flavia, Carbonia, grotte or old mineries. Also old town of Iglesias consists of many restaurants. The center of the town is charming, you can eat great and take a walk.Guest review bySławomirPoland - 10.0
First time visitors to Carloforte need to know that the...
First time visitors to Carloforte need to know that the Delcomar ferry tickets do not guarantee you a spot on the ferry for the time you booked. Instead, the company encourages travelers to show up at least one hour before departure. When I learned this – only after I had booked our Calasetta to Carloforte and Carloforte to Portovesme tickets for the same day – I realized that an afternoon on the island would be too short if 2 hours of that time was spent in a ferry queue. So I rearranged our itinerary and booked a lovely vacation home for one night in Carloforte, as I also learned that we could use our departure ferry ticket the next morning. It turned out that we needed to arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to departure, due to the slower season of when we were visiting, but one night was still far too short to spend on the island. For our afternoon and evening on the island, we got to do a quick stop-off by the Saline Di Carloforte to look for flamingos (we saw some!); an incomplete, 45-minute hike along a cliffside trail from Sentiero Verde (near the upper parking for Cala Fico); a brief stop at the Belvedere di Capo Sandalo; a partial walking tour of Carloforte, preceeded by a much-needed break for gelato; and finally dinner. All of those activities could have used much more time and I would have been happy to spend several days on the island. I wish we had time to stop off at the southern end of the Saline where we might have gotten closer to the flamingos. I wish we had driven down to Cala Fico rather than just peaking down at it from the upper road. I wish there were restrooms at Capo Sandalo so we could have stayed longer. I wish we could have visited more shops and restaurants in Carloforte. And I wish we could have stayed some extra days to visit a beach or two. And that is just the basics. As a nature lover, I’d love to return to this island when the Eleonora’s falcons are nesting in the cliffs of the LIPU Nature Reserve.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0
It is not worth visiting.
It is not worth visiting. We would extend our stay in Carloforte instead. The island is right next door to Carloforte, but a completely different vibe, no infrastructure, no service on any of the beaches, and a little "dead" (in June anyway). There was one great restaurant we ate at on both nights, and that was the only highlight of our stay.Guest review byElenaUnited States - 10.0

Tuelada is a small but charming town in the hills above several really wonderful beaches. There are a few good restaurants and a great corner cafe for drinks and snacks, a couple of grocery stores, pharmacy, Bakery and beach shop. Great place for exploring the southeast coast.Guest review byPeterUnited States - 8.0

It’s an old mining town (coal). Interesting place to visit due to history on how the town came about. But the town itself is so so…. Iglesias however is nice and younger crowd, plenty of restaurants and more lively. Iglesias is highly recommended to visitGuest review byGenevieveSwitzerland - 10.0

We were unlucky as during our 3-day stay the sea got very rough, the Mistral was blowing, so we only managed to get into the sea one day. I can imagine it must be very different if you can go out on the dinghy tours of the caves etc. I would strongly recommend driving to Nebida and doing the walk along the sea towards the Pan di Zucchero views. The SP83, the road into and out of Buggerru, requires quite strong driving skills and nerves. We preferred the route southward.Guest review byElenaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We loved the seaside village feel to Porto Pino.
We loved the seaside village feel to Porto Pino. Everything you need was in walking distance however, if you want to see more of Sardinia you definitely need a car and it is so worth it as it is a beautiful island. We found that eating out was not expensive, likewise to hire sun-beds on the beach was also no more expensive than e.g., Spain (€15.00 per day for two beds and an umbrella). Most beaches we went to had parking that cost about €8.00 per day. As well as many stunning beaches, there is a little marina (crystal clear waters) forests to walk through and plenty of good restaurants and pizzeria. I would highly recommend Porto Pino - great holiday.Guest review byFionaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
