Great place in the mountains with Italian flair.
Great place in the mountains with Italian flair. The hiking trails are marvellous, the paths through the vineyards are superb, lots of Castagne and going there by Rhätische Bahn is a pure highlight. Hidden beauties, old places, rich in history.Guest review byreise_kunstAustria - 10.0

There's so much to do in the area. we went summer skiing at the glacier (Stelvio), which was ok (lots of long lines for the button lifts because of the hundreds of ski club teams). But the nearby QC Terme Bagni Vecchi was amazing. Would like to have stayed longer for hiking and mountain biking. Very nice little town and beautfil surroundings.Guest review byLu KoUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful countryside and perfect for walking or cycling in the hillsides around the village, plus some really nice restaurants open late into the evening filled with people who all appeared to be having a good time. Also great to be able to do some duty free shopping.Guest review byBruceUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice to wander among the cobbled streets of the old town and set off on the wine trail among the vineyards. Walk for as far as you want then head down to the valley floor to get a bus back to Sondrio. Great walks in Valmalenco. Not far to Switzerland - Passo Bernina is very picturesque.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Chiavenna, nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps, is a...
Chiavenna, nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps, is a gem of natural and cultural beauty. Its medieval old town enchants with narrow, cobblestone streets lined by historic stone buildings, exuding a timeless charm. The Mera River flows gently through, reflecting the surrounding snow-capped peaks and lush green valleys, especially breathtaking at sunrise or sunset. Waterfalls like the Acquafraggia cascade dramatically nearby, adding to the area’s wild allure. The town’s vibrant piazzas, filled with quaint cafes and local artisans, pulse with authentic Italian life. Ancient churches and palaces, like Palazzo Vertemate Franchi, showcase intricate architecture. Surrounded by hiking trails and vineyards, Chiavenna blends serene alpine scenery with rich history, creating a captivating, soul-stirring destination.Guest review byBeth EllenUnited States - 8.0

Morbegno is a convenient place to stay in the Valtellina area. We travelled here from Menaggio on Lake Como . On the way we went on a small detour to see the Acquafraggia waterfalls and the amazing Palazzo Vertamate Franchi. We took a nice day trip from Morbegno to the Gerola Alta to visit the Bitto cheese museum . When departing we were needing to get to Tirano in the morning to get on the spectacular Bernina Express train. This was a convenient place to travel from .Guest review bySimonAustralia - 10.0
The perfect stopover on the way to Switzerland and when...
The perfect stopover on the way to Switzerland and when returning from Venice and Lake Garda and Como. You are transported to a different world with a different temperature and environment. This is a place where you can rest and relax until your next trip. Don't treat this place as an overnight stop only. If you spend only one night there, you will find that the next 20 km of travel will take you all day. Take advantage of the taste of great restaurants, hospitality and be sure to visit gas station and meet these wonderful old people. The surrounding mountains will keep you entertained for the day, especially the borderlands and amazing spirals. Be sure to buy a souvenir from Campodolcino. The temperature difference is stunning and admiration for people and full respect and the fact that you can fall in love with this place. Campodolcino made my vacation extend by two whole days. How amazing it is that you can see it at every step, what strength and effort is put into the tourism of this wonderful place and the surrounding area.Guest review byAleksandraSweden - 8.0

Tirano is a nice place to relax, we found one excellent restaurant (Parravicini) and one not so good on the other side of the river. Use recommendations. There is a very long market on a Sunday. Everyone we met were very friendly.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A very pleasant and charming small town nestled in the mountains. The town reflects its rich history, yet it offers plenty of small shops. The mountain slopes are right next door and easily accessible from the town. The opportunities for cycling, spa visits, and hiking are fantastic!Guest review bySamuliFinland - 10.0
Livigno is one of a kind.
Livigno is one of a kind. Location is distant from everything, but the place is magical. Almost always sunny, be prepared for a lot of sun. Great italian cuisine. Good prices as it is duty free zone. A lot of fun on and off pistes and of course crazy apres-ski parties every day :-)Guest review byMichalSlovakia
