The rooms are wonderfully large and spacious, and come with all the amenities like refrigerator, hot water heater, very good AC, and bilingual Japanese NHK news. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is very good, with scrambled eggs, chicken, potato croquettes, salmon, good coffee and orange juice, Etc and the excellent b i e i travel information office is right around the corner, and can help with day trips. The room had the best lighting of any hotel I have had this trip.Guest review byDanielUnited States

- From $79.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.4Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,593 reviewsThe quality of the room, in general, was awesome. The staff was, as expected while in Japan, top notch. Though it was great for both sexes, it's more catered to women. It was akin to a spa experience. It seemed as if the customer-base also understood that, as most guests that I saw were female.Guest review byEvanUnited States

Most interesting places like Furano, Daisetsuzan and noboribetsu are not close to Sapporo even with self-drive trips. So don’t base your self in Sapporo as it is far from its own airport anyway. Stay in Sapporo if you want to explore its surrounding areas.Guest review byChangAustralia - 8.0

Hakodate per se is a quaint lite town, whose main attractions can be visited in one day. However, it can serve as a hub for exploring southern Hokkaido as it has all the necessary services. Food is certaiy a plus, particularly seafood, and prices are lower than elsewhere. Also, compared to larger towns on Honshu, it has a frontier-type of vibe.Guest review byArielSlovenia - 10.0

We loved Asahikawa, a very fun little city with a huge variety of bars and restaurants, easy access to local ski resorts, lots to see and do, and just a really fun, friendly vibe. Was a nice change after the hectic pace of Niseko. We will return next year and give ourselves a bit more time to have a really good look around (could do with 7 nights - our stay was 4 nights). Enjoyed the bonus of the winter festival being on during our stay, with spectacular ice sculptures the whole length of the main street, plus a big festival zone with activities, a huge ice stage, and dozens of food vans. We will be back for sure.Guest review byNicholasAustralia - 10.0

We did glass blowing at a great place called Il Ponte - made a glass each to take home! Also spent an afternoon Kayaking nearby at Shioya beach with Max at Sunnyside Up -well worth doing with amazing scenery and even a swim at a beach! Also found a great little place for dinner that locals go to called Summi's Grill in a little back alley near the Sun arcade. Met a couple of locals who go there every day!Guest review byPhilipAustralia - 10.0
We've been twice to Furano.
We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. The fact that it is small also makes it easy to meet up with friends.Guest review byStephenAustralia - 10.0

Kushiro is a compact city.
Kushiro is a compact city. When I was there in February 2024 the city was fairly quiet. Kushiro is a good place to stay if you are interested in seeing the Red crowned-cranes (Tancho). The Akan International Crane Center is just over an hour away by public bus. It's also possible to travel to the wetlands and the many lakes in the area. The Kushiro City Museum is very good with displays of the natural history, geology and Tancho. There are also wonderful sunsets that can be seen in various parts of the city.Guest review byNeilThailand - 10.0
Very beautiful and quaint little town.
Very beautiful and quaint little town. Loved the hot foot and hand spas for the public. Views of the lake were amazing and the onsen with the cost of our room was worth it. Better to stay since it is much more beautiful than at Rusutsu Resort area and not that far to go snowboarding.Guest review byKenUnited States - 10.0

For a two day trip to Noboribetsu, we enjoyed the hiking, scenery, and shopping near our hotel. The natural hot springs there are also quite unique - semi translucent in appearance. We really enjoyed soaking in it.Guest review byDennisUnited States - 8.0

Less touristy than other places in Japan, but a good base for visiting places like Furano, Hakodate, Noboribetsu. We went there during the summer festival which was great, and the shopping centre at the main station is very good.Guest review byDanielUnited Kingdom
