- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 21 reviewsHotel Miyu Rikyu is perfectly situated along the waterfront just a few steps from Miyajima Ferry. We had a sea view room and could see the Otori Gate from our window. The setting and room were very. beautiful, Sleeping on the traditional futons on tatami mats was comfortable, and the set 12 course menu was delicious (though could be challenging for picky eaters). Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful. Note that we were the only foreigners during our stay and the staff does speak English but it is a much more traditional Ryokan. On site onsen (public bath) was very nice with a small view out to the sea from the top floor.Guest review byEdithUnited States
- From $850.66 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,491 reviewsThe hotel was stunning. The staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful, as they are everywhere in Japan. Our kaiseki banquet meal and breakfast were an event in themselves and it was great to try so many different dishes, many we would probably never have tried otherwise. Room was spacious and nice mix of traditional Japanese and western styles. The indoor and outdoor baths were also beautiful, a relaxing way to start and end the day. Overall the perfect base for our stay on the islandGuest review byAndyUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 681 reviewsBeautiful property. We had the half board with multi course traditional Japanese meals. They were amazing but yes, pricey. We wore our traditional Japanese. The hubby used the Osen and said it was fabulous. I didn’t go as I stayed with our 10 year old daughter who didn’t feel comfortable doing it. The staff was helpful and courteous. We left our bags with them on the day of checkout and they brought us to the ferry around 14.30.Guest review byReynaSwitzerland

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come...
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia - 10.0
Miyajima is simply magical!
Miyajima is simply magical! From the moment you step off the ferry, you’re surrounded by stunning natural beauty, peaceful shrines, and the famous floating torii gate—it truly feels like stepping into a sacred, timeless world. One of the most enchanting parts of the island was wandering through the smaller shrines tucked into the forest, where rows of little Buddha statues wear hand-knitted red hats and bibs. There’s something incredibly touching and serene about them—like the whole island is wrapped in quiet reverence. Add in the friendly deer, delicious street food (don’t miss the grilled oysters and momiji manju!), and the breathtaking views from Mount Misen, and Miyajima easily became one of our favorite places in Japan. I didn’t want to leave!Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand
