- From $448.42 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 363 reviewsThe architectural design and interior decoration are cozy yet elegant. We love the room with the sea view and the massage chair. After spending time in tiny hotel rooms in cities, we just went crazy for the vast space inside which kinda felt like home: a big tv screen, cozy mattresses and duvets, and easily adjustable a/c. Walking around the hotel was comfortable with their lounge wear and Japanese slippers, and the onsen is easy to access and very relaxing. The staff are very friendly and eager to help out. Everywhere we walked past, they greeted and were attentive even though some of them may not speak a fluent English. Breakfast is abundant and very well-managed.Guest review byTithinunThailand
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 21 reviewsHotel Miyu Rikyu is perfectly situated along the waterfront just a few steps from Miyajima Ferry. We had a sea view room and could see the Otori Gate from our window. The setting and room were very. beautiful, Sleeping on the traditional futons on tatami mats was comfortable, and the set 12 course menu was delicious (though could be challenging for picky eaters). Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful. Note that we were the only foreigners during our stay and the staff does speak English but it is a much more traditional Ryokan. On site onsen (public bath) was very nice with a small view out to the sea from the top floor.Guest review byEdithUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 624 reviewsThe owner of this hotel is just amazing, so hospitable & kind & goes out of her way to ensure a perfect stay! The food is fabulous both at dinner and breakfast plus when I arrived she took out an island map and marked the 6 best sites to visit and the suggested order too - she was bang on & my day was fabulous! My room was warm cozy and clean with a fantastic view out to the water. The hotel is right across from the ferry dock making it so easy stay here. Simply amazing time! 10 stars!Guest review bySharaCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 684 reviewsBeautiful property. We had the half board with multi course traditional Japanese meals. They were amazing but yes, pricey. We wore our traditional Japanese. The hubby used the Osen and said it was fabulous. I didn’t go as I stayed with our 10 year old daughter who didn’t feel comfortable doing it. The staff was helpful and courteous. We left our bags with them on the day of checkout and they brought us to the ferry around 14.30.Guest review byReynaSwitzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 912 reviewsFrom the free shuttle, to the welcoming staff and just the overall experience, it was amazing. The location is absolutely great as it's just outside the busy area, across the aquarium (which we can recommend) and the start of one of the three routes up Mt. Misen. It's quiet, the view from our seaside room was gorgeous and the food so tasty. Do not hesitate, book here! I certainly will if I come back to Miyajima!Guest review byLisu-chanNetherlands
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 2,181 reviewsThe strength of the hotel is its staff: Very welcoming, helpful and friendly, anticipating our needs and surprising us with their attention. Then, the meals: the breakfasts and Kaiseki dinners are amazing. Being a bit farther from the crowded center, means it's more quiet and relaxing. Also their shuttle service is very convenient. Highly recommended.Guest review byTiborRomania

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come...
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia - 10.0
Miyajima is simply magical!
Miyajima is simply magical! From the moment you step off the ferry, you’re surrounded by stunning natural beauty, peaceful shrines, and the famous floating torii gate—it truly feels like stepping into a sacred, timeless world. One of the most enchanting parts of the island was wandering through the smaller shrines tucked into the forest, where rows of little Buddha statues wear hand-knitted red hats and bibs. There’s something incredibly touching and serene about them—like the whole island is wrapped in quiet reverence. Add in the friendly deer, delicious street food (don’t miss the grilled oysters and momiji manju!), and the breathtaking views from Mount Misen, and Miyajima easily became one of our favorite places in Japan. I didn’t want to leave!Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand
