The location is quiet yet convenient, with a supermarket and convenience store nearby. I borrowed a bicycle from the owner to explore charming Imai-chō village with its beautiful old buildings and cafes and shops - a highlight of my trip! From Miwa Station, it's easy to hike the historic Yamanobe-no-michi trail to Tenri. Loved that too.

It is located in picturesque mountains next to a Buddhist temple. I enjoyed reading works of local history and poetry in the school library; the goémon bath was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was truly exceptional. It was like entering into the world of Soseki’s 1906 novel Botchan (about a rural school teacher). I can’t wait to go back !
