- From $108.35 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 4,326 reviewsEasily the best hotel we had a chance to stay during our trip to Japan. Location is super close to train station (max 10 minutes on foot), nearby you also have tram and bus stops. Room was more spacious than rooms we typically encountered in Japanese hotels (i think we stayed in twin room with additional bed for 3rd person, but it was still plenty of space for us and our suitcases) Pharmacy/drugstore on the ground floor in the same building, convenience stores nearby. Breakfast was insane (in a very positive sense). It was Japanese-style and the selection was huge, everyone could have something they liked. Staff (both at the reception and during breakfast) super nice and helpful.Guest review byRafałPoland
- From $100.56 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,990 reviewsThe whole place has a clean modern feeling, but in a traditional style. The capsule is really big and private, and the botel never really sleeps - you can return home super late and still jump in the onsen, or chill out in the relaxation area on tatami mats and get a bite to eat in the early hours. There was calming tranditional shamisen music playing over the speakers. In one word, the feeling of the hotel was 'serene'.Guest review byBrettNew Zealand
- From $132.89 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 2,051 reviewsThe best thing about this hotel is its location that very near to Okayama station. Also, the size of the room and facilities provided in the room is sufficient for three of us. The cleanliness is amazing and the staff are approachable and able to speak English that makes us feel convenient to communicate.Guest review bySuhanomMalaysia

They have a massage chair and a laundry machine in your room which is amazing. Dryer is in the 4th floor and free to use. The free breakfast is delicious and lots of selections. Service of the front desk is great. I give this hotel 10/10Guest review byivyUnited States

It isn’t a typical tourist destination from my understanding but the gardens by night are absolutely stunning. The casual is also beautiful and I’m sad to have missed the pottery class. Food and bars also exceptional - everybody is particularly friendly, and perhaps less used to accommodating tourists. Coffee: Empire coffee roasters. Friendly service and outstanding coffee. Food: Hidaya Yanigamachi. Grill your own delicious meat. Drink: ichigin. Super friendly and will involve you in conversations even if you don’t speak Japanese.Guest review byAlexUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Only spent one day at the end of our trip which was enough to basically shop and wander the historical area which I think is the main attraction anyway. Beautiful, scenic, clean, historic. And we loved Yoshii Ryokan in the heart of it all. Definitely worth a visit.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We stayed here rather than on Naoshima island and took the short ferry across to the island. When we planned our trip, I had not factored in that many of the museums on the island were closed on a Monday and that some had to be booked for the Sunday. The benefit is that the onsen next to the Uno hotel is wonderful. You can be outside in one of the outside baths and at night gaze at the stars. We had a massage and a Japanese meal in the onsen and ambled happily back to the hotel. We delayed our planned departure to go the next morning after we had checked out of the hotel. We did not really explore the town itself but had a lovely meal in a restaurant close to the ferry building, overlooking the park and shopped in the big stores near the station.Guest review byBUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Okayama is a great city to stay in if you want to visit nearby places like Hiroshima and Naoshima. The hotel is great, convenient, and comfortable. Close enough to the main transit hub -- I would stay here again.Guest review byRachelCanada - 10.0

Beautfiul. A glimpse of times gone by. Old buildings, quiet streets lit by lanterns at night. Very good restaurants. The canal was lovely to look at. Very good shops, all generally selling products of high quality.Guest review byTheo - 10.0

It’s a nice ryokan - close to the harbour and the train station. No staff - but it suits me well. Feels like my own apartment. Clean, simple but nice and cozy. They cleaned the room every day - I didn’t even expected this… if I ever come back to Tamano a m- and I hope I will because of the art islands around and the beautiful Onsen in Tamano - I will certainly try to stay in this ryokan againGuest review byNoaIsrael - 8.0
We chose Okayama as a base for trips in central Japan...
We chose Okayama as a base for trips in central Japan because it is a stop on the shinkensen line. We bought a 7 day Sanyo-Sanin pass for about $150 and took day trips to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Naoshima (art island), Onomichi, Inujima, and Takahachi. Okayama itself is a charming modern city. Just about everyone rides a bike. Because it is not a tourist hub prices very reasonable. $500 for a week in a nice hotel with free breakfast, adult happy hour drinks at night, and an onsen. Restaurants were very reasonable. $15 will get you all you can eat and drink at a sushi restaurant. $10 for the best tonkatsu dinner outside of Tokyo. Although the city was flattened during WWII, some nice attractions remain. The Korakuen gardens are beautiful and overlook the Okayama castle. Kurashiki is 15 minutes away with its historic district built around a canal.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 10.0

We timed our trip to co inside with the festival of lights and so pleased we got to experience the first night of the light festival before we moved on. Absolutely beautiful in the bikan historic district wandering along the canals with so much to see. Easy city to navigate with lots of great eateries.Guest review bySandyNew Zealand
