We stayed in the most exceptional room at the Hotel Indigo Shibuya. Beyond the incredible corner view of the Shibuya Scramble crossing, it was beautifully designed with all the necessities and then some tucked away in hidden drawers and pockets within the suite. The view spanned three floor to ceiling windows, offering us a view though to Tokyo midtown over Yoyogi Park and the Southeastern Ku of Tokyo. The bathroom suite was stunning, with a full-size bathtub, rain shower and hand shower - perfect for a relaxing spa bath experience after a long day of exploring the city and beyond. As the end cap to our ten day trip to Japan, this was the most special experience and we are immensely grateful to have had the opportunity to stay here.

We loved our stay here! at the beginning we were not sure if staying in this hotel or others in Shibuya/Shinjuku because of location but we ended up choosing this one, and it was the best decision for us! After touristing all day it was nice to come to a calm and quite neighborhood/hotel. The station is right in front of the hotel so is easy to move around tokyo (and you never stay in just one area). We had two full beds, so the room was bigger than other standard double rooms in other hotels. The convini store inside the hotel is amazing, anything you need is right there. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Very clean rooms. They clean up the room and change towels everyday (not all hotels in tokyo do this everyday).

Spacious and beautiful room with a great kitchen and an amiable staff. Perfect location - next to a 7-Eleven (5 min), 2 min to the bus station (which can drive you directly to and from Tokyo station), and 10 min to the subway. Location. Cleanness. Well-equipped and spacious room-bathroom. Beyond our expectations! The room with a view of Tokyo Skytree! The washing machine (with a dryer function and detergents provided at the front desk) was highly appreciated; a plenty of hangers + a portable drying rack (photo) were a big plus. A full of detailed and thoughtful attentions for travelers are applied to the room. Everything was digitalized (elevator, room, check-in); no room cards was another excellent aspect, given the risk of losing them. Asakusa Station (Tsukuba Express Line – two stations away from Akihabara), 2 big supermarkets, convenient stores, malls, restaurants, pubs, drug stores, etc are literally walking distance from the hotel. No doubt for us to come back to this hotel for the next time. Stayed at “Superior Family Room with Tatami Area » at 10th floor. It was one of the perfect comfortable stays in our travels!

I love everything about this hotel. The location is in a quiet area of Asakusa. It's very safe to walk at midnight and at dusk. Near to Tokyo skytree and Sumida park where I watched sunrise on my birthday. There is a 7 eleven in front, nearby supermarket and small restaurants. Near to subway and very accessible going to/from Haneda Airport. The hotel entrance is actually pretty and the facilities are good. There is an indoor and outdoor onsen too. I was able to try the indoor onsen once and it was very nice as I was alone. It was soo good after a very tiring day. It's not open 24hrs though. While the restaurant offers buffet breakfast with good variety of Japanese and western choices. I also tried eating for lunch in their inhouse restaurant and their pork belly bowl was sooo good. As for the room, it's really small but I was alone so it's just good for me. It might be too cramped for two people or more. There was a small walkway before the bed and I could lay open my big luggage in half. The bed is big and comfy too. There is a desk, mini fridge and a full mirror. Coffee and tea amenities are replenished everyday as well as cotton, towels and yukata. I really like that they provide yukata instead of bathrobe. It adds to your Japanese experience. I wished I could take home one though 😅 But it was too late when I found out that the Obi belt is in the drawer. So I was using the yukata without the obi all along. Haha. The bathroom is soo nice too with Japanese toilet and the bathtub is shaped like an egg, very comfy to soak in. The staffs are nice and very helpful. It was a breeze to checkin and out. I will definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back again or try another branch in other areas of Tokyo. Very good for value 💯

Location - Away from the bustle of over-touristy (main) Shinjuku Conveniently located few steps away from Tokyo Metro (Shinjuku Gyoenmae station - Marounuchi Line - which goes to Tōkyō station - especially if you're arriving via Narita Express - no need to drop off from extremely confusing Shinjuku Station) Has quieter, neighborhood style restaurants and coffee shops; and a leisurely walk towards Shinjuku (via San-Cho-Me) - see shops, Isetan, two starbucks haha, local market, a Tsukiji-style restaurant as well Can stroll to nearby Shinjuku National Garden - extremely popular during autumn and Sakura seasons ----- Rooms This is a typical Japanese business hotel. DO NOT EXPECT a "decently sized" room. If you're booking for two persons and you've got big luggages - don't expect to have any more foot treading space left HAHAHAHA. Small bathroom, Japanese bidet toilet yes! Toothbrush, comb, shaver, towels - yes! Can also ask to clean room once a day ----- Onsen (Japanese style spa) - yes! Love it! -----

    Love this neighbourhood.

Love this neighbourhood. I lived in Japan for several years, 2 decades ago, and I have gone back a few times for a visit. First time for me to be in Tachikawa. It has great vibe, a bit of hustle bustle, but not crowded and suffocating like Shinjuku or Shibuya. Lots of shops and cheap restaurants. Not touristy at all and you can observe locals doing their everyday business if that is your thing.

Fuchu was a wonderful town to stay in on the outskirts of Tokyo. It has a slower, more relaxed atmosphere than central tokyo. The people were friendly and there was plenty to do and see. The tree lined main street leading to the temple was beautiful. And there were some local parks that were nice to walk to.

Machida has everything you need for shopping plus the Odakyu Line into Shinjuku or the Yokohama Line into Yokohama if you need to hit the big time. Still comoared to most North American towns, Westerners will think Machida is HUUUUGE and super busy. For Kanto region I'd saw it's a hub for Kanagawa but manageable. Food choices at and around the station are excellent. Hotels are way cheaper than in central Tokyo yet you are only 30 to 60 mins on any train to wherever you need to go. Direct buses from Narita and Henda airports as well so no need to deal with hauling luggage on trains. Or just takyubin (courier) luggage to Mahcida from airport.

The island is lovely and has many outdoor activities. But you will likely need to rent a car to reach some of the more remote areas easily. There are buses and taxis, but you may have to wait quite a bit of time. Many of the restaurants will close during the afternoon and early evening, so be sure to have some snacks prepared or stay in a place with a kitchen.

Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo. We explored the beautiful Inokashira Park and other points further west such as Chofu and Koganei. We ate at a great izakaya that specialises in squid called Totomaro. There's plenty of shopping, including Don Quijote and Yuzawaya. Kichijoji is on the Chuo line which connects with Shinjuku and Tokyo stations. It's also really well serviced with buses.

Tokyo was a whirlwind of neon lights, serene temples, and impeccable hospitality. The city blends tradition and innovation so seamlessly—one moment you're sipping matcha in a centuries-old teahouse, the next you're navigating a robot-run café in Shibuya. Public transport was a dream: clean, punctual, and easy to navigate even for a first-timer. The locals were incredibly polite and helpful, and the food? A revelation. From sushi counters to steaming bowls of ramen tucked into alleyways, every meal was a highlight. Whether you're chasing cherry blossoms or just craving a taste of hyper-modern city life, Tokyo delivers with style and grace.

I went to Tachikawa for a concert at Tachikawa Stage Garden and it was my very first time visiting there. Life in Tachikawa seems to be a bit more laid-back than central Tokyo even though it's a big city as well. Meaning, you get to enjoy the convience and entertainment of what big cities offer, but it's a bit less crowded and less chaotic. Showa Kinen National Park is a great place. I spent two afternoons there to clear my head and connect with nature. Highly recommend. I'll definately be back for the unexplored spots such as the art museums and many eateries.
