Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. Originally developed as a lodging for the temples’ pilgrims, it conducts Buddhist services every morning that guests can attend. Nankai Koyasan Train Station is a 15-minute drive away.

A 1000 year-old Buddhist temple, Shukubo Koya-san Eko-in offers Japanese-style accommodation, a beautiful garden and free WiFi. Guests are free to attend Buddhist morning services, the Goma fire ritual and meditation. Staff was very helpful and had very good english. The room was very comfy and had a nice view. Excellent private bathroom facilities, super clean and the most technological toilet so far haha. The night tour of the cementery was done by one of the ekoin monks, it was excellent, super reccomended! Meditation was good, morning ritual and fire ceremony very special... Overall had a nice, relaxing stay and learned lots of things!

Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. Kishu Museum of Art is 1.4 km away and Heisogen Park is 1.5 km from the apartment. We had an amazing stay, the hotel had literally everything we could think of: a spacious room with lots of different (!!) outlets including type-c and usb, free use of hotel onsen with volcanic water (tattoo-friendly), drinking water and fully equipped shared kitchen, and of course - a very reasonably priced bakery. Would definitely stay again if in Shirahama!

It was one of the best accommodations we experienced in Japan. The house was lovely and impeccably clean, but what truly made our stay exceptional was the staff! They were incredibly helpful and kind—from the warm welcome and complimentary welcome drink to the delicious dinner and even offering to do our laundry, despite it being quite late. We truly enjoyed our stay!

The owner is the soul of hospitality. The place is spotless and the bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept in so far while walking the Kumano Kodo. Plus, right across the street of a real supermarket so great location.

The monk who runs the property was so helpful recommending local restaurants and giving advice and even gave us a lift to the station. There were free drinks including alcohol. The rooms are part of a temple. The hotel is very close to the main shrine and not far from the station so a great location. The place to stay in Shingu. Good value for money.

200 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO is a recently renovated property set in Tanabe and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. It is located 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall and features full-day security. The guest house has parking on-site, a hot tub and a shared kitchen. The Minshuku is located in Chikatsuyu, which is a perfect location if you are hiking the Kumano Kodo. Whether you are taking two days from Tanabe or go all the way in one day, it is good to rest in Chikatsuyu. The Minshuku is very clean, with all the comfort of the room, kitchen and bathroom + shower. The best part is really Ike san hospitality, he can speak several languages and he is a great cook. From dinner to breakfast, including the lunch to go, everything he prepared was fully enjoyed. He is also very kind and overall interesting person to chat with. He definitely made our stay more comfortable.

The room and facilities are clean. The location is very good. It’s near the bus stop and the convenience store. And if you wake up early like me and there’s no bus at that time, you still able walk to the Shingu station. The hostel has 4 bicycles to be borrowed with no charge. You can ride it around the city.

The property is a 10minute Walk to shirarahama beach. The tourist spots in this island are close to each other so if your comfortable walking then you’ll be fine.You also have the option to rent a car if there’s any. If not, you can rent a bike from cogicogi.Fyi, it is near a coin laundry station that’s open from 5am til 12midnight. The owners served me a healthy breakfast for my 2 night stay and I’m happy to able to experience their hospitality. Thanks once again :)
