Karagandy is an important city to visit.
Karagandy is an important city to visit. The city is full of beautiful parks, museums, and monuments and is close to Dolinka, the site of the former Karlag GULAG headquarters. As a female solo traveler, I felt very safe in Karaganda and Dolinka, and people were kind and friendly. Best to go when there is no snow.
Best to go when there is no snow. Get a taxi to the Karlag/gulag museum that is just outside of town. You can also book an English tour guide for that museum to learn more.
