Amjud was in touch pre arrival and throughout the stay - and helped with local recommendations. All other staff also provided very personal service. We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Glendower. From the start, the staff made us feel at home, especially Demunda, the concierge, who went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay. Demunda and the team were incredibly kind and attentive—they helped us communicate with a local car rental company, which made things so much easier. They also arranged amazing outings for us, including a tour of nearby tea plantations, a beautiful waterfall hike, and even a chance to go horse riding. One of the highlights was the Sri Lankan breakfast, which they cooked specially for us. It was absolutely delicious and made with such care—it really added a personal touch to our stay. Overall, the service was genuine and thoughtful. We’re so grateful for everything the staff did to make our visit special. Would definitely recommend Hotel Glendower to anyone visiting the area.

We had just finished a day at Ramboda Falls and were looking for a place to stay overnight to avoid driving further. By chance, we stumbled upon this hotel, and it turned out to be far beyond our expectations! The view from the hotel and our room was absolutely extraordinary – truly breathtaking. It felt like we were surrounded by nature's beauty in every direction. To top it off, the dinner was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Sri Lanka. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail were impeccable. If you’re in this area, I can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

A very nice botique hotel which gives you feelings of a home. We have been to many botique hotels, but i think this is one of the best and was best part of our stay in Sri Lanka. Very amazing views of tea garden. The hotel is located in a quiet location and is only 5 minutes away from Nano Oya train station. All facilities were neat and clean. Very nice food and breakfast was amazing. We end up eating dinner there as well. Very nice food. They have a small golf club, a temperature controlled swimming pool, a tennis court. Morning views from dining areas are unbelievable.. A perfect get away for holidays.

Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.

If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local...

If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!

The location is off-the-beaten track a bit if that’s what you like. Personally coming from England I didn’t need to see Nuwara Elyia (little England), little point when I live in England! I enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere and in a peaceful environment before hitting the city of Kandy.

Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!

Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .

Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. I imagine the buildings painted pastal pink and yellow, flower pots hanging from the eves, it could be a destination rather than a quick stop to buy supplies on the way to elsewhere as is now.
