I had a truly wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their warm hospitality really made my stay feel special.
The hotel itself is very clean, beautifully designed, and well-maintained. The atmosphere is calm and quiet, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and with a great variety of options. It was the perfect way to start the day, and the dining area was clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff were attentive and made the morning experience even better.

We stayed at Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa for 8 nights and were 100% satisfied. The food was excellent, with plenty of variety - spicy local dishes, continental options, lots of seafood, fruits, and yummy desserts. It was easy to find kid-friendly meals, and the restaurant staff were top-notch.
Our cottage was spacious, quiet, and very comfortable, with great soundproofing from top neighbors. Housekeeping was fast and flawless special thanks to Thasitha and Viraj for keeping everything spotless.
The resort was peaceful and not too crowded. The pool was clean and well-designed for both kids and adults, with a nice bar nearby. The beach was beautiful and perfect for swimming in June.
We also loved the kids’ animation. Richie, the animator, kept kids entertained with fun activities, giving parents time to relax. He was friendly, creative, and great to chat with.
This was one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in - clean, cozy, family-friendly, and well-managed. Highly recommended!

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. The place is stunning, with beautiful artwork displayed throughout.
We stayed in a villa with an ocean view — it was not only beautiful but also incredibly comfortable. I especially enjoyed the selection of tea provided in the room.
The swimming pool area was fantastic. Even though the hotel was fully booked, it never felt crowded and remained peaceful and relaxing.
The cherry on top was the exceptional staff. From the attentive hotel manager to our wonderful butler, Malshan, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a perfect stay, everyone was warm, helpful, and dedicated to making our experience memorable.
The hotel itself is excellent, but it’s the attention to small details that truly sets it apart.
Last but not least, the spa was amazing. I had a fantastic massage with Priyanka — she was kind, and her hands worked magic.

This is definitely the nicest hotel along this stretch of beach. The pool was absolutely amazing especially as it's not a great place to swim in the sea on this particular part of the beach due to corals shallow water. If you want to have a good swim you need to walk further up the beach. but the pool was so great I didn't care!
The setting is fabulous. I loved the crows in the palm trees and the nature. The room was huge and extremely comfortable. The pillows fabulous and the mattress and everything really comfortable. I loved that they had the option of a ceiling fan.
I did look at the other hotels on a walk and I'm glad I picked this one !
The laundry service was fantastic and managed to get a stain out of a really badly stained shirt. Miracle workers! The staff are very kind and helpful and will go out of their way to make things nice.

Beautiful 5* resort, I'd say it's typical European standard with large rooms, some western TV, fast wifi, beautiful beach and nice pool. We also enjoyed the restaurant (priced really reasonably). Breakfast was typical resort type with mix or western and asian with egg station, coffee/tea, fruits, jogurts. Staff was super accommodating, friendly and very attentive.

Apart from the beach there is nothing much in walking...
Apart from the beach there is nothing much in walking distance though we did go for dinner at Bayceylons which was very close and good. Hotel excursions expensive but there’s a local company that do fishing and snorkelling trips at a good price.

Batticaloa is very good city, peaceful, less traffic, sort of more rural touch as compared to Colombo. People are also very cooperative and helpful in all ways. Its a small town. The beach is also very neat and clean.
There are many local restaurants and hotel. We can find good food there.

Kalkudah is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka! The water here has an amazing emerald colour and it is very clean, transparent. It is a very long and beautiful sandy beach with a free natural spirit, with hardly anyone around. We enjoyed swimming almost all the day! No tourist attractions but some restaurants like Laya Waves are and Swiss Cafe on the shore are the options. Kalkudah works fine for yoga, meditation, walking along, etc. There are some cows and their manure in some spots, but it is better than plastic garbage. Some days the waves were bigger than Passikuda, but no corals on Kalkudah. Comparing to Passikuda we liked Kalkudah much better. Passikuda is over crowded with a long chain of luxury hotels and is not as beautiful. Anyway if anyone is coming with children Passikuda has shallow waters, as well as some tourists attractions. In any case, on Kalkudah one can dig a hole in the sand for children, where the ocean water will come, while making the natural baths that way.

Batticaloa was warm and humid, but that is more than made up for by its breathtaking beauty and abundant seafood. The town is exceptionally clean, surrounded by water, and radiates a serene charm. Pasikudah, in particular, took our breath away. With its pristine beaches and tranquil waters, it’s nothing short of amazing—a true gem on the eastern coast.
