We had a great stay here. This place is brand new so the rooms are clean,bed is comfy and shower is great for a cheap price relative to what you get. They have a pool also, which is critical as sigiriya is very hot and you need to cool down sometimes. Breakfast had everything you need, The staff was very attentive and friendly. The location is good, not that far from the rocks and has restaurants in a walkable distance Wifi signal was a bit slow

Location and accommodation was dreamy. A cabana in the jungle and a swimming pool in addition. Wonderful and nice owner who is very helpful. Dinner and breakfast was another highlight. I can only recommend staying there - it is on top only a 15 minute walk to Sigiriya rock.

The hotel is beautiful, modern and spotlessly clean. The staff is amazing, hotel manager Bernard is doing an amazing job running the place. Not only he took care that we were satisfied within the hotel, but he also arranged/booked all the activities for us for a very fair price - sunrise at Pidurangala rock, safari to Minneriya national park, and a ride to our next stay. He always only booked the "checked" drivers/guides he knew, that spoke very good English and gave us the best experience possible. We were also very satisfied with the safari guide - we saw a lot of wild animals, he explained us a lot about the wildlife of the national park, and he was very respectful to the animals (not coming too close, moving away if the elephants came closer and wanted to cross the road...). The breakfast is also very big and delicious, with eggs, sandwiches and fresh fruit. Definitely the best stay we had in Sri Lanka!

I had a wonderful stay at Pride Rock in Sigiriya. The hospitality was outstanding – the hosts were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The accommodation itself is beautifully set in nature, making it peaceful and relaxing, yet still comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious, and every meal felt freshly and thoughtfully prepared. All my needs were met during my stay, and I truly felt cared for. I would 100% recommend it to anyone visiting Sigiriya, and I’d definitely go back again if I could

I arrived late at night, and my first impressions were amazing. The hotel is calm and stylish; the entrance and lobby are elegant, and there were at least 2 members of staff working the front desk even though it was late at night. The staff was amazing. I’m a young guy and have stayed at nice hotels before and never once felt uncomfortable here. All the staff greeted you with a smile and were more than happy to talk. The staff truly set Sigiriya apart from its competitors. I was given a unit on the L side for my stay. It was a cool, pool-facing balcony. The room is huge, and I booked just the most basic one but upgraded to Deluxe +. A king bed, a comfortable sofa, and a small dressing area. I loved the style and layout. The bathroom was nice; again, I liked the style. Housekeeping was immaculate, and the room was left spotless—truly outstanding work by them. I spent much of my time at the pool; there’s plenty of seating that’s all plush and comfortable. The pool is large, and it was peaceful there. There seemed to be numerous staff working the bar, & you could order drinks and snacks. The only time I ate at the restaurant was for the free breakfast. Black coffee is included, as well as water and juice. The breakfast buffet is included, but wow it was nice & large. There was a selection of bread, charcuterie, fresh fruit, fresh juices, local dishes and action stations, and many to describe. Once again, I’m glad to have anything included.

Thank you Lakshan, Buwaneka, and the rest of the Ayugiri team for making my stay at your ayuverdic resort so special! They went above and beyond by arranging a complimentary pottery class and one-on-one yoga classes in addition to the 2.5 hours of daily personalized ayuverdic treatments. I was also able to enjoy nearly every meal in a different scenic spot on the beautiful Ayugiri property while observing fireflies or wild peacocks. Also, the rooms are so lush and beautifully designed with relaxation in mind! The staff were incredibly accommodating and gracious. And the ayuverdic treatments really helped my skin issues and helped me relax after a crazy travel schedule! Thank you for such special stay Ayugiri Team!

Nimal the property manager and his staff were great during our stay, and overall, we felt very taken care of. When we had trouble getting a tuk tuk via pickme/uber to get around, Nimal would help us get that sorted. No matter how late we got back, they'd always have someone waiting for us in the main concierge area to make sure everything's ok and get our breakfast order. When Nimal learned we were traveling to Ella on the day of checkout, he informed the kitchen staff and prepare a snack (delicious AND amazingly packaged sandwiches and bananas) and water for our travel. We'd stay here again!

The gardens and serenity of the property, everything felt intentionally arranged and welcoming. Everything was always clean despite the constant rain. Hardly any mosquitoes or bugs, not even on the balcony. The pool and restaurant area was really nicely set up and the staff were wonderful. Rooms were spacious and clean and felt so homely with small touches.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but...

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a perfect space to relax after exploring Dambulla. A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
