We were fortunate enough to get a room facing the sea. It was superb with it's balcony, two chairs and a table. It made for a wonderful shared time as we celebrated our X5th anniversary. The room was a decent size with a mini bar refrigerator. The hotel is fairly new and looks nice. It has a good restaurant and we liked the breakfast buffet while seated with a view of the Adriatic Sea. We felt comfortable and enjoyed the relaxed feeling. If you were in Nice or Miami you'd be paying 2-3 times the price. Although Bar is a nice place to stay, in my opinion it's a child friendly vacation on the beach without much stimulus. If you think you are heading to a cheap Ibiza you would be mistaken. One great surprise is that we found several good restaurants that were very good value. Making one of the joys of Bar is searching them out. The hotel has a nice sized pool with many lounge chairs and umbrellas. Gleb came and met us and took us to the apartment. He showed us how to work everything, and had his mom bring up extra pillows and towels for us. I read in previous reviews that he will take you on a tour around the area. We booked him for a tour and he took us around for the whole day showing us so many cool places to go check out in more detail in the future. It’s a great bonus to your stay here. I'm afraid my impression of Bar was that it was industrial, a bit ugly and not very well looked after.(Sorry Bar, maybe I didn't go to the right places!) Wanting to visit places that are not yet wholly given over to tourism, is a two edged sword; it means that the 'pretty views' are often obscured by something utilitarian and not pretty! I took a taxi boat to Sutomore beach, which was a lovely trip and incredibly good value. The beach and water was fabulous but I think every person in the whole of Montenegro had had the same idea and the beach was extremely crowded. My reason for visiting Bar was to do the train journey from Bar to Belgrade, which I had read was one of the most beautiful in Europe. From the sveti stefan bus stop, it’s very easy to get around, buses to Budva Old Town run every 20 minutes, cost €2.5 one way, and take about 20 minutes. Taxi from Tivat airport is around €55–60 and takes about 40 minutes. The area of Becici was great for a nice beach holiday. I didn’t like that every beach seemed to be allocated to a Hotel and we had to pay €30 for two beach lounges, but this was everywhere and I guess, just how it is done everywhere. We had a hire car so we were able to also visit Kotor, Tivat, Sveti Stefan and other areas, which were all within an easy drive. The exception being the major roadworks on the E65/80 to Tivat, but these will likely be completed by next summer.Guest review byHopkins
