This is a filthy town.
This is a filthy town. The people I met with were nice, but wherever you turn, you see filth, disorder and chaos. Granted, in a border town, you can't expect greatness. But compare it to San Ysidro, another border town on the US side. Granted, San Ysidro is unappealing; but Tijuana is filthy.Guest review byArunUnited States - 8.0
Ensenada is a great place to shop.
Ensenada is a great place to shop. The long street with many shops is full of interesting "finds." Many people speak English, and in some places you can still make a bargain to reduce prices. I was particularly amazed at the number of inviting-looking restaurants.Guest review byJanet - 10.0
Mexicali is a cute dessert town that keeps on growing...
Mexicali is a cute dessert town that keeps on growing despite its very hot and dry weather. Originally the lands that saw the crossing of the Cucapah, Cochimi, Kumeyaay, Pai Pai, Kiliwas and others accross the Californias without border. Mexicali has thrived culturally and its people are warm, kind and generous. Despite road infrastructure can be a challenge, it is an active place, unique cuisine that has integrated Chinese gastronomy. Their imput due to migrating waves from the 1800s has made a mark on the landscape of Mexicali. Healthy food and lifestyle continue to elevate Mexicali 'a must' destination holiday. Its Majestic Rumorosa with capricious rock formations makes this place memorable. All around there is something for you, whether you are vegetarian or carnivorous, carne asada is just delicious and la ruta del vino, only 1.20 min away offers a unique experience. You may need a week to experience this place. This place is peaceful but vibrant, safe, friendly and affordable.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0
The location was nice. It's more of a Glamping Experience.
The location was nice. It's more of a Glamping Experience. The area felt secure. A few things that were lacking in our room. The TV didn't work. Smoke didn't work/battery was disconnected. We we're supposed to get firewood for the outside fire pits, but didn't get it. We could have used more towels in the bathroom.Guest review byCarlosUnited States - 4.0
If you are looking for a nice getaway, private and not...
If you are looking for a nice getaway, private and not harassed don't go here. There is a gatekeeper at the parking lot reporting to the owner right away and she has cameras at the front entrance. The condo had capacity for 6 people, I registered 3 and at the last minute took an extra 2 folks. Instantly, I was having to pay for those additional people through Zelle. The listing mentioned Air Conditioner, no such thing. My 96 year old father suffered at night without any cool air. The listing agent told me it was booking.com's fault. I called booking.com customer service and they stated it was her fault. Later that day, the property owner changed the listing to read “heating” vs air conditioner. Not having AC during these high heat wave times are not easy to deal with. It would have made sense to be transparent and price accordingly and add extra floor fans. Condition of the property could have been better. The hallway sink was slow at draining. The property owner thought it was odd that this was happening since the property gets verified before a new customer rents. I felt it was odder that there wasn’t any toilet paper for one of the bathrooms, plus the toilet paper holder was completely broken. Obviously, the unit was not thoroughly checked.Guest review byGloriaUnited States - 6.0
San Quintin is growing.
San Quintin is growing. Calimax, plenty of Oxxo's, El Florido.. The Hotel was to far out of San Quintin to enjoy any activities or to enjoy the restaurants. We had business in Vicente Guerreo at the orphanage but we couldn't enjoy our time because of the distance. We ate at the Santa Isabel restaurant which was great. Great Menu and reasonable prices. Tecate is a sleepy border town that has upgraded over the past decades. With its old fashioned plaza and church, fun shops, and great restaurants, it is a great introduction to Mexico. Safe, very friendly, and known for the famous Rancho La Puerta spa.Guest review byKarenUnited States - 8.0

San Felipe is a very typical stop on the way to Baja Sur if traveling on Highway 5 (usually crossing in Mexicali.) The problem with San Felipe is that lodging tends to be very pricy. In the future (I've made this trip twice - I live in Loreto) I will probably cross and stay in Mexicali, then drive to Guerrero Negro the following day, skipping San Felipe. On the other hand, San Felipe is a nice little town and very accessible from southeast California and Arizona. So, if you're camping, it can be a very good and convenient option for a long weekend in Mexico without the issues attending border towns.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 10.0

I went to Tijuana for dental work. There are wonderful dentist and facilities in the city. Wonderful places to eat and some crazy night life but I wouldn't come as a tourist. You go to Tijuana for a purpose. Usually for medical or business not for site seeing.Guest review byPatrickUnited States
