- From $1,897.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 60 reviewsIt was absolutely stunning and immaculately maintained. The staff was incredible and so attentive. The food at both restaurants was also amazing. We traveled with our 6 year old and we all loved it. An added bonus was the heated private pool with each casita. We loved our morning and evening swims.Guest review byMargaretUnited States

A safe, very walkable city with amazing food and great place to stay for many excursions! Friendly people and loved the warm weather! Our favorite restaurant was El Templo! We ate there twice! The food was delicious and priced reasonably!Guest review byclaudiaUnited States - 10.0

Check out the two light shows at the downtown church and the ex-convent. Both, unfortunately start at 9pm so you might have to catch them at two different times. For more affordable food options, don't bother eating at the Calzada de los Frailes restaurants. Most places are overpriced!Guest review byHugoUnited States - 10.0
Progreso is just an amazing town.
Progreso is just an amazing town. If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta, I think Progreso feels like PV back when Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were wandering around. A little less crazy busy, a little smaller, a little more town than city. People are awesome, the Yucatan culture is very present and it has a different vibe than the Atlantic side. The Gulf Of Mexico is truly a guilty pleasure. We spent hours in that warm bath water. Progreso has great people. great food, great sites, a great beach, and a wonderful Malecón/Boardwalk combo. The boardwalk side is on the other side of the Pier and it is also awesome with a different vibe. It has a local family feel and an amusement park. Just a great stay. We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Izamal is a visually stunning town as well, photographers will love it so don't forget your camera! And the food was delicious everywhere we went. My friend had never been before and we both want to go back.Guest review byBel Travel WriterAustralia - 10.0
This gem of a seaside village is my go to place to get away.
This gem of a seaside village is my go to place to get away. I love the fact that there are few foreign tourists and you get to experience a more genuine local culture. Although generally very safe during the day, make sure you lock up well at night and I recommend you find a private parking lot. I love the fact that the beach (all public - there are no private beaches in Mexico) is unpretentious without all the fuss (and charges) you get on the Riviera Maya. Local families just bring their umbrellas (or makeshift shade with old coconut leaves), their coolers, loudspeakers, dogs, and spend the whole day (from 6 am to 7pm or later). The beach is relatively quiet as groups are spread out and there's plenty of space. If you walk for 10 - 15 minutes on the beach you will find areas with no one in sight. The pier is a great place to sit and watch the sunset. It's a great place to rest and take long strolls on the beach far from the maddening crowds. You also won't find overpriced souvenir and crafts peddlers. I am disappointed that they don't serve a larger variety of seafood dishes in restaurants. All you find in most places are prawn, octopus and fish ceviches and if you don't eat lemon, you're in a pickle. This time I found some fresh oysters (small but tasty) but would have loved to have had some chargrilled fish or fresh clams. I guess there's just not enough demand. There are a few options though, including some vegan / vegetarian places.Guest review byClaudiaMexico - 8.0

Over all the stay was great, hacienda was beautiful staff was not the best customer service! Waiters were great receptionist were not attentive perhaps they made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome! Would I go again yes! Hacienda was beautiful, and I will definitely go back just because of the comfort, and I would like to spend more time to enjoy the pool and peaceful feeling. I would also go back to try the spa, si ce I didn’t have the time. If I go back and I receive the same customer service from receptionists might go to another spa!Guest review bySandra - 10.0

It is remote and beautiful, not heavily touristed. Great for nature lovers, bird watchers, beach goers, folks who are comfortable without the luxury and tourist trappings of the well known resort areas.Guest review byMichaelUnited States - 6.0

I did not visit the town of Santa Elena but stayed at the Pickled Onions Hotel as a base to visit the nearby ruins of Uxmal. I think Santa Elena makes an excellent location for anyone that would like to visit both Uxmal and Kabah as these are just few minutes away by carGuest review byKristianUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site.
Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site. Lots of large sites to see and you can wander at your own pace. It was my favorite of the sites we visited on the trip. Tickets and entry could be clearer and signage at sites in Mexico is always lacking, but the quality of the ruins and architecture is fantastic. The scale, intimacy of the visit, and amount of ruins is superb.Guest review byJustinUnited States - 10.0
I love the walkability of the old part of Centro Merida.
I love the walkability of the old part of Centro Merida. Lots of cafes and restaurants in all different price ranges. Some of the colonial buildings have been restored and some look like ruins which adds to the interest and intrigue. I felt very safe walking any time of the day or evening.Guest review byLeeUnited States
