Breakfast was phenomenal. Toured the hotel and loved learning its history. Staff know you and are ready to help in any way. Plenty to see as soon as you walk out the door but also a pleasure to spend time in the room.

Highly recommend this perfect little gem in the heart of Georgetown. Location was amazing, extremely convenient to walk to all the sightseeing spots in the city. Hospitality here was unmatched. All the staff were so sweet, and they all went above and beyond in recommending us the best restaurants and attractions to visit. Included breakfast was absolutely delicious with a rotating menu (Western / Nyonya / Dim Sum). And finally the room itself - so clean and modern and so much care put into the amenities. The bath butler service was a dream! This hotel was the highlight of our stay in Malaysia and we would definitely stay again.

This is where you want to stay in Penang; the kind of boutique hotel that is a part of the history and culture of George Town. A great spot to start walking from with lots of great food options around but still quiet enough for a good night’s sleep.

The style of the outside of the Hotel was welcoming. On entering, it had a clean stylish interior. Very tastefully decorated and sympathetically decorated to the style of the colonial period. The whole place had a beautiful dreamy atmosphere about it. The Staff in every area of the hotel delivered Outstanding Customer Service. They were helpful and eager to help without being overbearing . The outside eating area remained me of being by the pool area, with three or four areas where you could draw the beautiful coordinating curtains for privacy. I did not use the swimming pool myself, but was told the temperature was just right. The breakfast offer was just right to set you up for the day because all around were great places for you to eat other things you might like.

FAQs about hotels in Penang

A Palm-Lined Pearl

An island and part of the mainland make up the small Malaysian region of Penang, also known as the ‘pearl of the Orient’. It has long been coveted and the capital Georgetown has many elegant Colonial buildings. The observation deck of the KOMTAR tower – the tallest building – offers spectacular views of the town and surrounding mountains.

A funicular railway goes up to Penang Hill deep in the forest. Nearby Air Itam has one of Asia’s largest Buddhist temples - Kek Lok Si – lit by hundreds of lights at night. Another fantastic temple is Taoist Kong Hock Keong in Georgetown.

Penang Airport is near southern Bayan Lepas, and across the Malacca Strait is Pulau Jerejak, a peaceful island where trees merge into ocean.

In the much livelier north, Batu Feringghi is the largest resort, with lots of Penang hotels on the beach, plenty of bars and a night market. East, green mountains slope down to blue waters at Tanjung Bungah, where several high-rise hotels overlook the palm-lined beach towards the Floating Mosque just offshore.

On the mainland Butterworth is the departure point for ferries to Penang island, and has a bird park housing a large number of Malaysian species. Wherever you decide to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of Penang hotels and apartments to choose from.

This is my tenth visit or more to the Bayview and it is my go to destination in Malaysia when i want to relax and have chill time near the end of the year. My wife and I visit there and love it and now we have a pandemic-born baby who is 2 1/4 starting to love the beach, the grass and the water play area. He ride a horse on the beach and our time there was great. I want to share most about the manager who welcomed us there. She has been there for over 25 years and her name is Jinnie. She welcomed us at reception, recognized us and shared past memories of our time at the resort. Her genuineness, kindness and attention to detail was exceptional. She quickly became Auntie Jinnie and my boy hugged her each night before going up to our room. Our trip thanks to her was our best time ever at the resort. We will be coming to Bayview year after year. The have super loyal fans in us and we will bring others.

Great local food like assam laksa, char kway teow, coffee, chicken rice and many other local favourites. People are friendly too. Transport is easy with ride hailing app and there was even a free Central Area Transit (CAT) service to help us to move around the central area; travelling to Chinatown is easy with this free CAT service from KOMTAR which is very near the hotel.

Loved the pool table at the lobby lounge!

Loved the pool table at the lobby lounge! (Needed to pay for it though). The mocktails were not really good, besides the parkroyal punch. Clean pool with cool slides. Very big and spacious beds which can probably fit 4-5 people! Nothing wrong with the hotel besides the mocktails, maybe. The beach was a little disappointing (polluted). We could see black oil bottles flowing in the water with their lids off, which wasn't very pleasant. But the water sports were fun.

I stayed one night in Bukit Mertajam and overall, it was a decent short stop. The town has a quiet, local charm and isn’t too busy, which made it quite relaxing. There’s not a whole lot to do, but it’s a good place if you just want to unwind or try some local food—there are definitely some hidden gems when it comes to hawker stalls and small eateries. That said, it’s not really a tourist-heavy spot, so don’t expect major attractions or much nightlife. It’s more of a laid-back, pass-through kind of town. For one night, it was okay and served its purpose as a quick rest point.

Lift service was poor and shared with Cleaner and laundry team. Delayed the whole process of the lift service which takes 20 to 30 minutes each wait. Noisy and the wall too thin. recently stayed at this Airbnb, and unfortunately, the experience was not great. The house is located very close to a mosque, and the loud prayers start at 6 AM daily, which is disruptive if you’re planning to sleep in. The house is also much smaller than expected for a double-storey unit. The living room is cramped and not ideal for hosting friends. All the rooms are small, and the kitchen is equally compact, so don’t expect much space here. A major inconvenience is the smart key system, which turns off the electricity when you leave the house. This means you can’t leave any devices charging or keep the air conditioning running while you’re out for lunch or dinner. Plus, there’s no air conditioning in the living room, which makes the space uncomfortable during hot days. Communication was another issue. The owner does not understand English and only speaks Malay, which made communication uncomfortable for me. On top of that, there is a CCTV camera outside the car porch, and the owner won’t allow you to turn off the modem, so it feels like you’re being constantly monitored. I found this quite unsettling. Lastly, the water pressure in the toilet is low, which was an additional disappointment. Overall, this stay was not as expected, and there are better options available for the price.
